We literally checked in and checked out - seemed unsafe and the room was clean but again seemed very unsafe … I don’t know I couldn’t sleep there.

Booked a non-smoking room. However, other guest(s) smoked in their room(s) and the smoke came through my bathroom exhaust fan into my room. Solved this problem my running the exhaust fan the whole time and closing the bathroom door. Stayed 3 nights. Figured this out the 2nd day. Can’t blame the staff if guests disrespect the property. Otherwise, had a great stay and will stay here again.

Dirty, musty. AC literally masking-taped to the window. Leaky plumbing, bathroom vent was like a jet engine & all or nothing. Thank God the bed was clean & comfortable. I slept through the scuzziness.

The entire hotel smelled like weed. I had to sleep with the window open- even the front guy working the desk was smoking and smelled like weed. The floors were dirty and I can tell it wasn’t cleaned well at all. Overall very dirty and misleading in the photos. Did not feel safe

The Seven Layers of Dante’s Inferno

We've never stayed at a Motel 6, and we decided to try it out, considering the low cost and the ubiquitously advertised "renovations." As we approached the hotel site, we immediately sank into a mix of fear and desperation. The site was reminiscent of a penal institution, nestled at the bottom of a long driveway. As we approached the parking lot located immediately in front of the concrete box (Motel 6), we noticed a vagrant walking about, carrying a bag and pacing back and forth. Naturally, we felt apprehensive and unsure of what we were getting into. As we approached the reservation counter inside the main entrance, we were greeted by an individual who resembled Snoop Dog, but not a single word was spoken to us. I told him we had reservations, and he asked for my driver's license in a monotone, unpleasant rumble. He made a copy of it and gave us two card keys, again not uttering a sound. After this painful exchange of weird sounds and actions, we had to use our card to access another entrance to the malkept "institution." As we proceeded to the elevator, we stumbled upon a "resident" wearing a neck brace and reeking of hard liquor, BO, and cigarette smoke. Unfortunately, we had to share an elevator ride with this wretch of a person. His alcohol emanation almost inebriated us. As we proceeded out of the elevator onto the hallway leading to our room, our hearts sank to the floor due to the combination of malodorous, stained carpets and the lugubrious appearance of it all. Stay Somewhere Else If You Can

Entrance hard to find and get into, plenty of parking, quiet overall, nearby shops and restaurants, but the price of the hotel for what you get isn't worth it. Towels stained, lights in room were almost all burnt out and the lights that worked were bright fluorescent. Beds uncomfortable, shower drain clogged, smelled of marijuana throughout hotel, and just not worth the money.

This motel needs an update/renovation; most of the internal decor was weathered and outdated. The lobby area wasn’t what I’d call welcoming- it felt like (I’d imagine) intake at a prison. The desk attendant was neither good nor bad, he did the job fine. The elevator had buttons that sometimes lit up when pressed, and it was old and creaky, giving no one piece of mind. The hallways had a stale smell of … people? The room followed suit: The bathroom was clean but the tub had cracks, the toilet needed to be replaced as it was missing lid screw caps (thought it did function properly.) The sink had two inconvenient speeds: dribble and fire hose, with its drain hole missing a stopper. The one wall hook was installed upside down so we couldn’t hang anything on it. The light/fan in the bathroom was so loud we avoided using it when possible. One of the “amenities” was free local calls, which we could not take advantage of because the telephone wasn’t connected to the wall. There was no cord. It was kind of hilarious. Some of the lights didn’t work, but the ones that did gave off a stark white light that was more annoying than a bug zapper, so we used the television for room lighting. Most of the channels on the tv were not clear due to a weak DishTV satellite connection. The beds were clean, mattresses were a little worn/soft, but honestly I’ve encountered worse. Overall, the Motel 6 Portland just needs a makeover, and it really isn’t even worth the low price.

Staff got me checked in early which I REALLY needed. That made it easier to overlook the unvacuumed hallway and housekeeper bickering loudly with a supervisor? Maintenance guy? Unsure. And : Your pipes are really loud. Like, VERY. Any time anyone flushes. There must be a better way. Rm 226.

Our check-in experience was very disappointing — the front desk staff member was extremely rude. Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. The room had a strong, unpleasant odor and was visibly dirty, with hair and grime on the floor. The sheets were clearly not clean and also had hair in them. There was even a large reddish-brown stain on the wall that looked like it could have been blood. We had booked three nights but could not stay after seeing the condition of the room. We checked in around 10:30 PM and checked out by 8 AM the next morning. The staff assured us they would notify Hotels.com so we could receive a credit, but that never happened. In the end, we paid nearly $500 for ten awful hours. I understand the saying “you get what you pay for,” but this experience was far below what anyone should expect at any price.

Staff is unfriendly and not helpful. The room was clean, but had a horrible bleach smell. One ice machine and it was out of ice. Slowest elevator ever. Only 7 TV channels tha work. Not a recommended place to stay!
