The only thing I liked about this hotel was location.
It needs major renovation! I felt misled by the photosâŠvery expensive old place that we will not come backâŠ
Very nice ambience. Would not recommend if walking up stairs is an issue. Close seafront and shops. View from room was courtyard and very pretty. Some rooms do have sea view. Would stay again.
Overall perfect hotel for a quick weekend visit to Catalina. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Bathroom was a little dated and small but for a 2-3 day visit it was fine.
Jackie and Daniel were the receptionist working while we stayed there and they were so sweet and nice about everything. They made our stay easy and comfortable my husband and I both agreed we would stay there again. Room was a little small but it wasnât a big issue, other than that we loved it. Yes you can hear people hanging outside in the chair by the room but we are heavy sleepers so that didnât affect us either
I really liked how the people at the front desk were very friendly. Explained everything of our stay, how our room keys would work, etc.
I liked how they had a free breakfast during our stay. Not a whole breakfast station but it had pastries, fruit, coffee, juice and yogurt. Very nice and well stocked. Clean room and comfy bed.
I'll return to this hotel for sure.
For $800 for a weekend, I was expecting a little nicer amenities. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice, he was great. But the hotel is more of an inn that hasnât been updated in a while. The pictures are very deceiving. The doors to the rooms need a shoulder nudge to open and close. The room was tiny with maybe a 18â in tv, old carpets & smell of mildew. The bathroom door also doesnât close, shower was the size of a shoe box. One night was almost $500. I expected a lot more.
Like the fact that hotel is feet away from the beach and walking distance to all the dining and shopping stores. Just FYI no elevator. Daniel at the front desk is great
We loved the location of this property. The room are perfectly adequate and the water was hot. One major problem was that the after hours phone number was not working. When our kids locked us out of the room, we had to search for someone who could call the people working. It turns out they stay there and one can just bang loudly on the door to try to get their attention. But we did not know this for a few hours. Otherwise, this hotel is good as a home base for exploring Avalon.
We just returned from Catalina and our room at the hotel Mac Rae was perfect for my teen son and I. It was a perfect location, being right in the center of everything. I loved having a fridge and coffee maker in the room and the room was SUPER clean and cute!! My 16 year old loved being able to walk down to the basketball and volleyball courts to go play and not having mom tag along! Also, the little pharmacy just downstairs on the corner had bottled water and drinks to put in our fridge. Super close and convenient! We hope to be back next summer!!
I at first was a little shocked about the size of the room and bathroom especially, my bf is 6â2 and it was very small for him to move around or even use the restroom also the walls are a little thinner then liked so just please keep that in mind !! Stay was great and ac blows nice cold air the staff is great and they have a small breakfast in the morningg
