If you like the thought of spending more time at the airport bar and less time wading through security on your way to Pubnico, just follow these handy tips:
- Ensure your passport and boarding pass are not difficult to reach. You will be asked to show them straightaway.
- You'll need to stop the tunes for a few minutes. Headphones need to be removed and put in a bin to be X-rayed. The same goes for items such as heavy jackets and belts.
- Laptops, digital cameras and other electronic devices must be placed in a tray to be X-rayed.
- Toothpaste, lip balm and other toiletry items in cream, liquid or gel form need to be stored in containers smaller than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). They also need to fit in a 1-quart (1-liter) clear resealable bag.
- Untie your shoelaces in preparation for entering the body scanner. Depending on what sort of shoes you're wearing, security may tell you to remove them.
- Some countries have stringent quarantine laws. Consider where you're going to and whether or not you can fly with fresh fruit and meat.
