There's a restaurant on site. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy The William Apartments Midtown also features concierge services, laundry facilities, and an elevator.
Excellent stay. In a great location and surprisingly quiet given its midtown. Staff were super friendly. Room was modern and had everything we needed. Only downside was that there was no safe in the room.
Very contactless and you pretty much have to download the hotel app to have a seamless stay. There is no room cleaning unless you request it and pay $35 for the service. Busy lobby bar but wasnât intrusive for me. It was a pleasant stay, but very self-service.
UNCOMFORTABLE AND UNSAFE
This is not truly a hotel- more like a high design hostel.
The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, the TV did not work and room and towels wreaked of bleach.
Most importantly, as a woman traveling alone for work this "hotel" is not safe. It does not have 24/7 staff and the entire first floor is a bar. There are no keys (you have to input all of your information, CC ad ID into an app - digital privacy is another topic) and are given an access code. Anyone with the access code can enter the hotel. There are no id swipes for the elevator so anyone at the bar can get to any floor of the hotel. The access code opens the room and there are NO interior physical locks. Given that there is no one at the front desk after 10pm.... it's not a safe place.
Not staying here again and would not recommend.
One has to get one's mind around the fact that the lobby is also the entry area to a very chic speakeasy. We are not bothered by that because my husband thinks that the bartenders make excellent martinis. The neighborhood is very convenient. Our room was spacious, chic and immaculate. But no bathrobes, no umbrellas and no MSNBC. Whatever.
Points faibles : Service et personnel, confort de la chambre
Worst NYC Sonder - Do Not Book Here
I had to leave this hotel because the penthouse suite I booked had no tv working and no heat. Sonder fixed this and I went to another property of theirs. Do not book this hotel, however. There is a small elevator. Loud restaurant. Tons of stairs.
NYC is known for expensive small rooms but The William was positively palatial. Having a kitchen kept food costs down and view with sunshine in the morning a lovely way to get up to explore the city. No tourist surcharge! No extra hidden costs. Everything we could need and great service if we needed. Downstair Shakespeare bar a safe haven for drinks and food. We stayed a week and could not fault it.
I would have given this hotel rating of five stars, but the night I visited, there was a very loud party on the first floor (I was on the 5th) that went well after midnight.
This was a last minute decision. New York hotels are very expensive. This place is less than half the price of hotels in New York. I definitely wasn't expecting a hotel. I believe this is a brownstone apartment that was converted once upon a time. It was done very well. But it definitely does not have the hotel feel. I think it would be hard to match that level. Having said that, it's very deserving of five stars. This is a great dollar value proposition. Great bang for your buck. I highly recommend.
