The Shepard Farmhouse on Acreage, a Private House
A century old house in the Bergen, right next to LeRoy, has been updated to make your stay enjoyable. This three bedroom home with a two car garage is centrally located, near Batavia, LeRoy, Byron, and Rochester, with Buffalo not too far away...
Booked this place to be near a anniversary celebration for a couple we have known for years. Its was my wife and I, as well as our daughter and her 10 year old son. Its a quiet house with a nice sized yard, perfect for a game of catch with my Grandson. It is an older house but clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable, Water was nice and hot, Kerig coffee pods were provided as well as bottled water in the fridge. Like most places you might not find everything you need in the cupboard but on the plus side you can get to a nearby Wegman's which is always a bonus if you are traveling anywhere in Western NY. There was a grill but we didn't get a chance to use it as we were there for just 2 busy nights The 2 bedrooms upstairs were accessed by a narrow staircase in case that would be an issue for anyone and the downstairs bedroom was adjacent to the living room. All the beds were comfortable. We would stay again if the need came up,
The owner was very accommodating, very good communication. Wonderful older farm house that is typical for the area. I would say some of the window blinds need replacing and the traffic during the day is fast but plenty of yard for our doggie to play. Overall graet place for a relaxing stay. We will be back!
We planned to watch several of the grand kids games and one fantastic night at the Sabres game!! So nice to come back to a home not a hotel room. We are planning to do this again next year and will rent this house again. The house is older so some things are a little worn, but all was so comfortable
This farmhouse was the perfect location for us while visiting family that lives only a mile down the road.
It is an old farmhouse, so of course there are quirks and imperfections. The most noticeable problem was the window blinds. They are tattered and missing in many places. The holes in the bedroom blinds meant lack of privacy and lights shining in the windows at night.
Everything was very clean and had what we needed for our visit. The owner was quick to respond to our questions. There was room for everyone and the cost is very reasonable. We didnât get to use the large yard due to weather but the fire pit are is a highlight of the house. Very wooded and private.
While the bathroom is downstairs two of the three bedrooms are upstairs. The beds were comfortable One of the upstairs bedrooms is spacious while the other one and the downstairs bedroom are very small without closets and not much room for suitcases or belongings. The stairs are the biggest drawback for us as they are very steep and narrow making it hard for us older folks to navigate for trips in the night to the bathroom.
The house was very cold (55) when we arrived, but did warm up. The central heating has been replaced by individual room units which kept most of the house toasty. There is no unit to heat the downstairs bedroom so we kept the door open to the living room and piled on blankets.
We would probably stay here again as it is a super convenient location for us.
Friends and Family stayed at The Shepherd Farmhouse for 3 night ghts & 4 days. We gad great communication with owner/manager of the home.
He helped us yo surprise family we were visiting amd all went well. There was a terrible accident at the intersection of West Bergen & Griswold that knocked out everyoneâs electricity for half a day. Our contact was rught in the ball when notifications of electricity reparation. The home was great. We enjoyed ourselves.
My family and I booked this house for a few nights when we were in the area for a family reunion, and it was perfect. A nice and quiet area to go back to and relax at. The fire pit was a nice touch, and just being able to sit outside without having to listen to city noise made it very relaxing. Inside the house was comfortable, with enough space for everyone to chill but not have to be on top of each other. Communication with the owner Walter was excellent, although we didn't have to communicate much, when we did was quick to respond
Nice farmhouse in the farmland of upstate New York. A clean, quiet place. All the amenities one could need. We were visiting extended family over at Horseshoe Lake, just a 6 minute drive.
This was a great location for us during the tent revival we were participating in Batavia. We enjoyed retreating to the property every evening. There was plenty of space to be together or separate. Thanks for the great time.
The house was as described. Clean and easy to find. A couple of things to know - the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are steep. We had a hard time keeping it comfortably warm, but to be fair, we were there during the midst of a winter storm with high winds - so challenging for an older home, and plenty of quilts and blankets on hand to keep everyone cozy. The host was VERY accommodating in allowing us to stay an extra night due to poor driving conditions (in fact, a travel ban...) Overall, the price was right, the house welcoming, and the host accessible and kind. We would stay there again.
We were very surprised about the house, how big it is. There were enough places to sleep and it was also a very quiet location, as you would expect from country life. The communication with the landlord received a grade of 1++.
The response was very quick and polite. The evening fire at the fireplace on the property (of course only with the landlord's permission) was also a very great and relaxing experience, the marshmellos were delicious. All in all, our vacation was a real relaxation. We would book the house again at any time.
We have stayed here before, and were very pleased. This visit was equally as pleasureable. Will definitely stay again if available. Everything was as promised.
This home was perfect for a first time trip to New York. My parents are country people, so the location was fantastic with low traffic on the road and lots of grass and trees around.
The staircase is steep, no doubt about it, but it worked out just fine. The property has a very comfortable, "homey" feel and the kitchen was great for making meals in. The washer and dryer were very helpful and it is nice to come home with a suitcase of clean laundry.
We only had one very minor issue come up on our last night and the owner was great about it. If I travel to the Buffalo/Rochester area again, I would book this without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet country getaway.
Nice place. Good sized property with apple tree and fire pit. We slept 6 adults in the 3 bedrooms. The blow up mattress was useless. Good communication with owner.
Rental was clean, and host provided bottle water and coffee for keurig which was amazing! We stayed for four days and three nights as we were bringing our oldest up for college. Absolutely beautiful property! Apple trees right out the kitchen window. Giant back and side yard that the younger kids and our dog could run around and play in. It was the perfect middle point between Rochester and Niagra. This house, the local people we chatted with, and the breathtaking views on our drive has made us all fall in love with New York. We will definitely book again when we come back up to visit. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
