Landhaus Amelinghausen: Over 200 Years of Tradition Within Historic Walls
What to Expect
Since 1819, the former “Schenck’s Hotel and Inn” has been dedicated to the well-being of its guests. In August 2019, I, Peter Ohlms, took over this centuries-old, traditional family-run inn as your new host.
In the summer of 2020, the first six guest rooms were completed following an extensive, full renovation. With these “small guest rooms,” I would like to offer you comfortable and modern accommodations at a fair price in a historic half-timbered house for your stay in the heathland of Amelinghausen.
In July 2021, the Lopausee Comfort and Wellness Apartment—which also underwent a very extensive complete renovation—was completed. Spacious enough for 8 people, it features three bedrooms with new hotel-quality box-spring beds, a comfortable sofa bed in the living room, two bathrooms (one with an infrared sauna and a large whirlpool tub; both with spacious showers), and a large, fully equipped kitchen.
A touch of comfort and luxury, right down to the “royal” sleeping comfort of the new hotel-style box-spring beds. A host who jokingly claims to have “invented enjoyment” wants to make you feel happy and as though you’re at home or visiting friends. When we say goodbye, I want to see in your eyes just how satisfied you were with my hospitality. I’ve been able to do just that regularly since 2018 with my guests at “Landhaus Lüneburg – little luxury Apartments” in Lüneburg-Rettmer—just a 15-minute drive from here.
In addition to the comfort and wellness apartment, six other functionally furnished guest rooms await you, each featuring new hotel-quality box-spring beds, a refrigerator, a Dolce Gusto capsule machine, and brand-new, lovely small bathrooms. One of the guest rooms (Kammer Elf) has a small kitchenette.
At the “Salzbäcker,” located 250 meters away, you can enjoy breakfast seven days a week in a modern, newly renovated café. Breakfast is not offered at Landhaus Amelinghausen. Unfortunately, due to the lockdowns, the restaurant has not yet been re-leased to a restaurant operator.

Rentals to tradespeople, technicians, commercial employees, etc., are permitted only upon request and with written approval.

The master bedroom features a box-spring bed measuring 1.80 x 2.00 m with two down comforters (or wild silk in the summer) as well as two pillows each (80 x 80 cm and 40 x 40 cm)—all filled with 100% Canadian down; gooseneck LED lamps provide the perfect lighting for reading in bed. A large wardrobe and two nightstands are provided. Pleated blinds are available for blackout. A flat-screen hotel TV (43-inch/109 cm diagonal, Telefunken) can be swiveled using a wall mount. A radio alarm clock with Bluetooth for pairing with smartphones. Charging cables for Apple, Samsung, and other devices are available on each side of the bed. A shelf with bathrobes and extra towels for the sauna/whirlpool tub is available for 5 € per person. The second bedroom (which serves as a walk-through to the third) features a 1.40 x 2.00 m “French bed”—also a box-spring bed—as well as a wardrobe. The small third bedroom contains a 0.9 m x 2.00 m single box-spring bed as well as another 80 cm high single bed (with a footrest) featuring a high-quality cold-foam mattress and a topper, also measuring 0.9 cm x 2.00 m. Due to the room’s size, there is no closet here; instead, there are coat hooks, a stool, and two small side tables. The windows in both rooms also have pleated blinds for adequate blackout. Both bedrooms feature a flat-screen TV (32-inch/81 cm diagonal, Panasonic) mounted on swivel wall brackets. Charging cables for Apple, Samsung, and other brands are available at each bed.
In each bedroom, a ROWENTA TURBO SILENCE EXTREME standing fan provides a refreshing breeze in the summer while remaining super quiet. The noise level is very low at every speed, from night mode to the extremely powerful turbo boost mode. Enjoy intense cooling without any annoying noise
