About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

In the heart of the East Neuk, with fabulous sea view and close to great golf.

Mill View Cottage is perfectly situated just a few hundred yards from the picturesque Fife Coastal Path, half way between St Monans and Pittentweem, and only a 20 min drive from St Andrews. Mill View is a newly renovated, immaculately presented traditional cottage with a large private garden and courtyard parking for four cars. The accommodation is all on one level and is suitable for guests with restricted mobility. The view across the sea to North Berwick with the historic windmill of St.Monans in the foreground is just breathtaking.

Providing a stylish comfortable retreat, the spacious, contemporary interior has been thoughtfully furnished with ample seating in the lounge and dining kitchen for six/seven. There are three spacious bedrooms, one with a super king bed, one with a king size bed, and one with twin beds. The two largest beds are Sealy posturepedic beds with Nostromo pillow top mattresses. They are very spacious and comfortable and should ensure an excellent night's sleep, something that many of our guests have appreciated. The twin beds have award winning Emma mattresses and are also very comfy and suitable for adults or children. There is also a full height single aerobed for a seventh guest and a full sized cot, both available on request.

The bedrooms are arranged in two 'wings' on either side of the lounge with the double bedroom and bathroom in one wing and the other two bedrooms and shower room in the other. The bathroom and shower room are recently fitted out with luxury sanitary ware.
The cottage has Sky TV, including SKY cinema and SKY sports, free wifi, Alexa and an ample selection of books, games, jigsaws etc for guests to use. There is also a set of golf clubs, picnic basket and cool box for guests. For colder days and evenings, there is a wood burning stove with wood supplied. There is a large decked area in the beautiful garden with garden furniture, parasol and outdoor lighting.

Best of all, however, are the wonderful panoramic sea and windmill views. It can be hard to tear yourself away from them to go exploring but well worth doing!

St Monans itself is a traditional harbour village overlooking the Firth of Forth, with spectacular views across to North Berwick, The Isle of May and Bass Rock. You can explore the streets and lanes, historic buildings, the old windmill that once powered the salt panning industry and the beautiful, old 14th Century church. Pittenweem has more shops, coffee shops, art galleries and a busy harbour selling fresh fish daily. There are a number of places in St.Monans selling freshly caught local seafood too, or you can catch your own from the sea front. There is a good local hotel in St. Monans, the very popular East Pier Smoke House selling fantastic lobster and an excellent seafood restaurant.

The Fife Coastal Path is just a stone's throw from the cottage , dotted with pretty fishing villages and many sandy beaches and coves to visit along the way. Pittenweem, St.Monans and Anstruther are all within easy walking distance of the cottage.

Activities for all interests can be found locally: fine golf courses, sandy beaches, watersports, art exhibitions, historic houses and gardens. This area is famous for golf with more than 40 courses in Fife, from the famous fairways of St. Andrews to the more traditional links courses and beautifully landscaped parkland and heathland courses. There are also numerous tennis courts nearby including St.Monans and Elie.

Just at the foot of the road, beside the steps to the coastal path, is Pathhead Nurseries. This is an excellent, well stocked garden centre linked to their own farm. It doesn't have a coffee shop, though there are plenty in the area, but it does sell freshly laid farm eggs from their own hens. It also has some fresh fruit and vegetables. Ardross farm shop is a short distance away and is a foodie's paradise with plenty of locally sourced artisan products. Bowhouse food market is a 2 minute drive and it has regular weekend food festivals.

There are sandy beaches a short drive away, we like Elie Beach and Kingsbarns Beach. Shopping wise, St.Andrews and Anstruther have a large variety of shops with the smaller villages having lovely gift and interior shops and essentials such as bakers, butchers, grocers etc.

Mill View Cottage is a warm, welcoming and comfortable retreat whatever the season. Nestled beside the Fife coastal path it really is a walker’s paradise and a great place to come home to at the end of a busy day. Heaven!

Lovely stay
Thank you for a perfect weekend. House was so well located beside a garden centre and the coastal path - and in a beautiful area. It was ideal for coastal walks. Sun shone most of the weekend which made for lovely views of the sea and for exploring the surrounding villages. The house itself was comfortable and homely and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook in the evenings - local produce was all delicious too. Jeanette couldn’t have been kinder as she offered us an early check in too which was an added bonus. We hope to return.

Mill View Cottage
This was the first time that we have visited the East Neuk of Fife and Mill View Cottage could not be better situated for exploring. Although out in the country by the coast, it is within easy walking distance of two villages, either by road or the coastal path, with shops, pubs, eating places, lovely harbours, great coastal views. The cottage was ideal for us. It had everything that we needed and plenty of space. The decking would be great on a summer evening to sit out and have tea. All in all, a perfect holiday home.

Golf retreat
Small scale elegance and comfort. Beds/mattresses and linens all luxurious. Kitchen perfectly appointed. Jeannette was a such a gracious host and left us with an abundant welcoming package. We even played golf with her very fun husband Jim. The location is idyllic - great views, very pastoral, and a short coastal path walk to St Monans or Pittenweem. We loved it so that we are booking again!

Cottage with lovely coastal path walks
The cottage is beautifully presented, a home from home. Beautiful sunrise and settings which can be appreciated from the back garden whilst watching the selection of visiting birds and butterflies. Jeanette provided a file of information with useful places to visit and eateries, highlighting ones that were dog friendly. East Neuk has beautiful, quaint seaside villages all which could be accessed by the coastal path but care needs to be taken in stretches. A wonderful chilled week with kind Scottish weather.

Week away with family
This is our second visit to this wonderful property. We stayed for the whole week and our daughters and their families came for two days each. The cottage is very comfortable with excellent beds and a nice powerful shower. It is easy to keep warm, both with efficient heating and a lovely wood burner. The location couldn’t be better, minutes from the coastal path and we tend to walk everywhere we go. 15 minutes to St Monans, about 25-30 to Pittenweem and an hour to Anstruther. Elie, and the Ship Inn, are about an hour and a half. There is lots of bird life and we have seen seals, dolphins and whales in the Firth of Forth, all from the path. Jeanette is a lovely, courteous and very responsive host. We will be back again

Home from home
We have had a lovely relaxing week in this beautiful house. It is decorated so creatively and has everything you need. The beds are comfy and it is very homely. Being just a couple of minutes walk away from the coastal path has been great and we have enjoyed exploring parts of it at our leisure. Jeanette has been very accommodating and very quick to respond to any questions we have had. We would thoroughly recommend this house and the lovely area.. In fact, would like to move here please :)
