A.U.R.A. (Acropolis Unique Residence Apartments) is a privately-owned apartment building which is composed of four large apartments for short term rentals with this one, the hostâs reception office at the ground floor and home on the top floors (former small rentals).  Unlike most of the newest constructions in Athens, for the entire building we have invested in renewable resources; solar energy, geothermal energy, recently replaced by heat pumps. Our aim is to guarantee an absolute heating and cooling effect with full autonomy, through an under-floor system (for long-term stays) and fan coils in all rooms, plus hot running water at all hours, and the heating of the swimming pool during the winter season. Re-cycling is realized through special bins at the ground floor of premises. Visitors are encouraged to support environment friendly actions.
Please note, that in case of no vacancy or a request for an even larger accommodation, visitors are kindly asked to visit the other apartments of equal comfort, in the same building.

Three major advantages are offered here: Visitorsâ comments for the spacious A.U.R.A. Penthouse all focus on some main advantages. What follows explains why:
1. Quality accommodation:
The A.U.R.A. Penthouse is situated on the 4th and 5th floor of a privately owned building. A comfortable accommodation is guaranteed as the first level of 190 sq.m offers a bright and spacious living room and a sun bathed patio with a long dining table and a wonderful view to the Acropolis, as well as a large, convenient, fully equipped kitchen. The privacy that is sought among members of a large group is also guaranteed as at the same level there are three bedrooms (2 larger ones, 1 smaller one) and 3 bathrooms while at the second level (95 sq.m) there is a large master bedroom and en suite bathroom with hot tub - jacuzzi and shower as well as two spacious walking closets, plus a spacious open space area. This works nicely either as a lounge area to the master or as a sleeping area (5th bedroom) rather flexible in terms of bedding (1-4 persons), depending on the needs. The owner's attention to a comfortable accommodation for large groups (8-10 or up to 15 guests) is safeguarded with the provision of an equivalent number of beds rather than sofas or beds in the living room area. Access to the roof top terrace and pool is through the second level. From the terrace the views to the Acropolis, the National Observatory, the Lycabettus Hill, a vast part of the city of Athens and the Saronic Gulf are spectacular. They are complemented by the beauty of the olive, orange and lemon trees and the bevy of chirping birds that have turned the terrace into their little oasis as well as visitorsâ having a hard time to believe they are right in the heart of the city centre and at a short walking distance from all major attractions, shops and the neighborhoodâs cafes, bars and restaurants. The swimming pool is basically private as it may be accessed occasionally just by the owner in a very discrete manner for maintenance reasons. It is enjoyed throughout the year as it is heated and covered during the winter season. A unique add-on no other property offers in the historical centre of Athens. Guests are kindly requested to note: Bath towels and pool towels are provided.
2. Location:
Most probably the best in Athens. The neighborhood is Thission, a residential area, the most appealing of all for visitors as much as for Athenians, in the heart of the historical centre. It combines the characteristics of the mid19th century through the neoclassical residencies which are being continuously preserved, with the proximity to the most important archaeological sites through lovely pedestrian streets and some of the most beautiful walks in any European capital, as well as the ultra-hip surrounding areas to eat, shop and walk around. A large choice of cafes, traditional taverns and restaurants as well as local shops offer visitors the option to spend time in the neighborhood if they please and acquire the inside knowledge of Athens! The Penthouseâs location is next to the major attractions but outside the touristy mass or city noise so even the owner is still taken by surprise from the calm it offers. Specifically it's 10 minutesâ walk from the Acropolis, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus participating in the Athens & Epidaurus Festival during the summer season, 20 min walk from the Acropolis museum and picturesque Plaka, through lovely pedestrian streets. The Athens Riviera is also just 9.0 km away and the cityâs most attractive neighborhoods are all around the neighborhood of Thission.Â
3. Hospitable host:
As the owner and host, I personally welcome visitors to ensure each and every guest receives the tips which turn a visit into an experience and a plain check in, far beyond the provision of accurate information, into a hospitable welcome. If important commitments do not allow me to be physically present, a reliable assistant would be replacing me. During the stay guests are welcomed to drop in anytime in our office on the ground floor, during the hours the host or her assistant is in. Check in and check out are realized with our assistance to exchange some basic information and smiles. Arenât warm smiles anyway part of a tripâs most treasured memories?
IMPORTANT NOTICE ⹠Parties, events, water games or any loud noise are NOT allowed in this property in order to have the quietness of the beautiful, residential neighborhood well preserved. The open-air spaces and the pool included in the property are intended to offer guests a refreshing and relaxing experience, not to be used as areas for activities or behavior that may cause disturbance to other residents. ⹠Quiet hours prevail in Greece by law are between 14:30-17:30 and 22:00-07:30 which all citizens need to respect. More specifically; ⹠A 13% V.A.T. is added to the booking price. ⹠A Transient Occupancy Tax (0.75%) is included in the booking price for all reservations made before September 25th, 2025. ⹠A Climate Crisis Resilience Fee (0.50⏠or 1.50⏠/ per night depending on the season), is required to be paid at the end of the stay. - As per January 1st, 2025 the Climate Crisis Resilience Fee is modified from 0.50⏠to 2⏠and from 1.50⏠to 8⏠and is included in the total booking price for all reservations made between December 1st, 2024 and September 25th, 2025.
Moreover: âą To further complement our guestsâ comfort we have created a privately owned and secure storage facility just across our buildingâs entrance. No need to worry about early arrivals into Athens or late departures as it may be accessed by code. âą Parking is offered on the premises, upon request and based on availability. âą Security doors and a security code for the main entrance offer peace of mind to guests who may feel insecure while traveling. ⹠The pool is covered and heated during the winter season following the ownerâs monitoring of weather reports. ⹠Bath towels and pool towels are provided.
At last, for an even more relaxing accommodation a number of tips are provided upon request, including personal trainer, yoga trainer and physiotherapistâs / homeopathy treatments, as well as airport or any other transfer in or out of Athens.
Our visit to Athens was 10 out of 10! Marianne is a fantastic host who greeted us warmly and responded to all of our questions promptly. We absolutely loved our stay-the house is beautiful and the view is amazing. We wandered all over Athens in our visit and think it was the perfect location. It was very quiet and serene but also a quick and easy walk to all of the sites in Athens. We enjoyed great restaurants just up the street, including gelato for the kids and also a park where they could enjoy playing sports each evening. Our group of 12 (6 adults and 6 children aged 10-14) had plenty of space to spread out in the house, the heated pool was a nice treat and the house was immaculate and stylish. Highly recommend!
Great stay! The place was exactly as picturedâclean, comfortable, and in a convenient location. The host was responsive and made check-in easy. Weâd happily stay again.
Our stay at this apartment could not have been better! The apartment was spotless, the kitchen was fully stocked, the beds, pillows and linens were excellent, and there was so much room for us to spread out and not be on top of each other. We were a group of 8 adults, all over 60, and we all enjoyed every minute of our stay. The apartment was in a very quiet neighborhood with very nice small cafes and shops. We walked to Monastiraki and Plaka neighborhoods easily, and enjoyed our view of the Acropolis from the beautiful rooftop pool terrace. We used the pool everyday, even in the rain thanks to the cover they put over the pool in the cooler weather. Marianne and Eva were invaluable in our planning, and we loved seeing them in their office as we went out on our adventures. Their knowledge of the area and happiness in assisting us just added to the perfection of our stay in Athens. We hope to return.
We were a party of 11 (over 55 yrs) and The Penthouse had so many pro's. The location to the attractions was so convenient; being able to walk to Plaka, the museum and Acropolis was perfect (and quick)! Also being able to put our luggage in the storage space, when we arrived, until we checked in was a HUGE benefit, And Marianne and Eva were both a pleasure to work with. They were very helpful with all questions and getting any help (cars transfers). Now with the con's. While reading these, keep in mind for us this was a place to sleep, rest midday (siesta time is a thing in Athens), and start and end our days together. The view, from the pool area, in the evenings is magnificent. The pool: It really is just a large dipping pool, it's no more than 4' deep everywhere. We visited in August, so it was nice to cool off in, but wasn't really used by us, due to the size and depth. Also didn't feel like there was sufficient seating for all of us to sit up there together comfortably. The living space: it's BIG - not a con but it's loud because it's so big there are no rugs on the floor. to absorb any noise. Even with two or three conversations, with everyone in the room, it gets overwhelmingly loud. Area rugs would be a huge improvement. As would replacing the couches. They are old and worn, which is somewhat expected with a rental, but these are TOO worn and dated. Overall the location was fantastic, host was wonderful & very helpful, and accommodations are good, but not great.
Great location. Marianne is awesome. She responded quickly to numerous questions and provided recommendations.Love the neighborhood. Very good restaurants and a few bars in just a few blocks but not the feel of a tourist area. The place had plenty of space for a group of 9 adults and teenagers. We had great meals within a few minutes of the place. And the entrance to the Ancient Agora is within a few minutes just up at the top of the street. The walk to the Akropolis is convenient - maybe 15-20 minutes away.Great trip.
We stayed here with a total of 3 families- 6 adults and 5 teens/tweens. The unit was in the perfect neighborhood with great restaurants and bars and views.
We were a family of 6 with 3 generations .The host was terrific. In every way. The neighborhood of Thission is a really nice and popular area and great for walking to so many restaurants, including a Michelin rated called Merceri right across the street.Plenty of room for the family to spread out and very relaxing. Could not have asked for a better stay.
I booked this location with my family for 3 nights in Athens at the end of a cruise. We were 9 adults and 3 children ages 1,7,11. It was perfect for us. The location was ideal for touring and getting a feel for the city. There are 4 flexible bedrooms that could sleep up to 2-3 people each, comfortably. The lofted area outside the primary bedroom was perfect for my 2 children. Each bedroom had a bathroom nearby. The kitchen was updated and fully equipped. The living areas were spacious and perfect for us all to gather. The rooftop and pool with view of Acropolis was a huge bonus and the kids really enjoyed having it. Marianne and Eva were lovely to work with. They assisted with restaurant recommendations, an app to pre-order groceries from and arranging us an airport transfer. The apartment was ready early, spotlessly cleaned and very comfortable.
Our family from UK and USA met in Athens in February. The location of this penthouse was perfect for walking to museums as well as shopping and dining. The apartment is easily accessed by elevator, or the younger ones can run up the fun spiraly staircase. Our hostess met us for a walkthrough to show both floors of the penthouse, the swimming pool and the beautiful rooftop view of the acropolis. The location was about 15 minutes walk from the Acropolis, the Plaka, the Monastiraki. Groceries and bakeries within 2 blocks. Several restaurants very easy walk. The Penthouse was very quiet and restful. We didn't have great weather for the rooftop, but the glass enclosed dining area and the large sitting room with several seating options were well enjoyed. The beds were comfortable with crisp linen/duvets for warmth. Four bathrooms proved to be just the right number. The kitchen is well outfitted with plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans and utensils. Salt/pepper/sugar, some coffee and a few spices. Each room has its own thermostat so we were very comfortable.A wonderful factor of this penthouse is the availability of the owner. Her office is on the first floor near the entrance to the building. Marianne and her assistant, Eva, function as perfect concierges: helping us with any detail we requested. They booked a day trip for us to the Corinth Canal; drivers for any little transfer we needed around town. Tips for sightseeing. Restaurant reservations. Very helpful!
The property was perfectly located and very spacious with so many extras making our vacation perfect. The property was well maintained with attractive decor and the roof top area was relaxing at night. We had a wonderful time!
Marianne was very helpful and provided us with a ton of information to make our time in Athens! The street where itâs located is charming and offers numerous restaurants/shops in walking distance! We would definitely stay here again.
I will start by saying that the property is maintained And in close proximity to Acropolis, however the whole management team is subpar . Check in is too late and was adjusted to managements convenience, resulting in an
Perfect place to get a great feel for Athens. The location was perfect, the apartment was large and spacious. The pool and views from the roof excellent. Highly recommend this stay in Athens. Thank you Marianne!
This was such an outstanding place to stay. Great location in such a nice neighborhood. Easy access to all the major sights. The place was so comfortable and spacious. The best part was being able to take a swim after walking around in the heat.
We stayed for 3 nights during a trip with our extended family (10 people). The property itself was wonderful. Very spacious, clean and modern and exactly as described. There were amazing views of the Acropolis from the roof terrace and from the balcony off of the living room. The neighborhood in Thisio was perfect. So close to the Acropolis with many shady streets filled with cafes to explore. Our host was excellent as well. Extremely accomodating, communicative, helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend this property and we would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful fairly car free neighborhood. The two ladies that own/manage the building are so helpful and have communicated with before and during our stay. The condo is clean, comfortable and well laid out for a large family. The pool was delightful after a day of sightseeing. Wine on the deck at night with the view is a forever memory! Beds comfortable nicely stocked kitchen. Multiple restaurants right out your door and a 24 hour bar/ coffee shop with in feet! We loved Athens but it is busy and this little neighborhood was a joy! We will return.
Wow!!â The 1st leg of our Greece adventure was extraordinary thanks to our wonderful host Marianne and the beautiful 4 bedroom penthouse we booked for 4 nights in Thissio. The rooftop views of the Acropolis were spectacular and evening cocktails and dinners so memorable. Marianne could not have been more helpful with recommendations for dinner, shopping and site-seeing. What a lovely gracious host she is. I must also mention the location is on a lovely quiet street within an easy walking distance of many nice restaurants, groceries and sites to explore. You will not be disappointed!
From the time we met our host to the day we left we LOVED this apartment.
The location alone is worth every $$ we paid. The quiet neighbourhood, walking distance to explore the city and of course the rooftop view of the Acropolis were beyond expectations.
We were 3 couples travelling together and the apartment was spacious, lots of places to relax and unwind.
Highly recommended this apartment
