Air conditioner was frozen. They brought two window units which did not cool the house. Never came back or called. Roaches in the master bedroom and the kitchen. Broken door shelf in refrigerator kept falling out. Would not stay in this house again.
House was not what I expected. Mold growing in one of the bathrooms, house had a mildew smell had to buy baking soda and set around to help with odor, carpets had stains, screened in porch doesnât keep anything out since most of the screens were flapping in the wind, railings on the stairs up to the crows nest were not attached, bench on main level porch had supports pulling out, felt like I need a tetanus shot to open fridge as it had rust all on the outside, could use more seating inside and out, one sofa in living room for a house thatâs sleeps 6, other options were hard stools, outside was a picnic table or the built in benches, on check out it asks you to sweep floor but yet there was no broom anywhere in the house, others might but I donât travel with a broom, house shook every time the wind blew which was almost always, one step going into house is not safe, fell coming out the house and I was done cut my trip a day earlyâŠ.
I could go on and I may sound like Iâm nitpicking but for what it cost to stay here for the week I have a right to. I travel 6 hours to the outer banks every year and stay in a different house each year. This is the first year I have been disappointed with the house. I love the outer banks but the house you stay in is a big part of your trip. I do not recommend this house to anyone especially if you have small children. It needs a lot love and attention.
Could have been cleaned better. This small house sits on a Cal de sac just a sand dune away from the beach. At night you can hear the ocean from the 2 porches. Centrally located to everything and neighborhood is VERY friendly. I would stay here again.
The rental process was very simple. Communication from Vacasa was proactive, frequent and detailed so I was never left with outstanding questions.
The property WhaleInn 208 was less expensive than others and now I see why. It served its purpose but is in dire need of some effort and investment by the owners. It's clear they are putting in an absolute bare minimum of both. Several screens had holes in them and the screened in porch was in disrepair. That's an issue when the mosquitos are as bad as they were. Benches in the screened in porch felt like they were about to fall apart. Several of the blinds had broken strings and some cupboard doors and drawers were askew. One of the bathrooms didn't even have a toilet paper holder. Small kitchen appliances were very old as were the minimal number of kitchen utensils. Fabrics on the kitchen counter chairs were stained.
A few thousand $ and some effort by the owners could really make a big difference in this place.
The neighborhood was nice and quiet. Easy access to the beach, right over the dunes. Lots of room on the beach and no one bothers you. The house was quaint and enough room for my boyfriend and I. The screened in porch is great to hang out or just to leave your sandy items from the beach. We have a very nice time
Got a text we could check in at 4 PM instead of 6PM. Got there and the place hadnât been cleaned. Used the bathroom when we got in and the toilet was rocking and felt like it was going to fall through the floor because it was rotted. And then it almost overflowed. There was a gap in the floor by the bathtub that you could see outside. Cable TV and WiFi werenât working. In the mean time the housekeepers showed up and said they needed an hour to clean. No big deal we went to the beach. Called Vacasa to let them know issues since management company wouldnt answer. They put in a request to the management company and asked if it was ok for them to come in why we were gone. I said Iâd rather be there and they would call me to let me know they were coming. Later in the day we came back from exploring and the guy showed up shortly after saying he had been there working on stuff and was trying to get the cable tv going. Said he would get TV company out to fix it. Property manager called a few hours later and credited us one night and was going to get the issues fixed for us. Never heard from them again the rest of the trip and nothing was fixed. But the fun continues. Going to bed the first night and the comforter and pillow shams had blood on them and some other stains I donât want to guess what they were. The next morning went to do some laundry and all but one agitator fins in the washer were broken and the dryer wouldnât shut off and burned some clothes. Called management company again. Receptionist was short and said they werenât required to fix anything and they could come in as they please as stated in the rental contract we signed. Oh and we were supposed to be there until six to check in. Well, I didnât send myself the email, so thatâs on you lady. Dealt with the issues the rest of the time we were there. During the last night we woke up thinking something is crawling on us. On check out morning, we go to do the things they ask of you. You know, since itâs such a short time between check out and check in, sweep and vacuum, make sure all dishes are done, strip the beds and a few other things even though you are paying a hefty cleaning fee. As my wife goes to open the bathroom closet door where the vacuum and broom were located the door falls and bashes her in the head and shoulder and knocks her back to the toilet that is about to fall through the floor, splashing toilet water on her from the sloshing and roaches on the walls. Still no contact
