Everything is good. Perfect sound view and close to beach.
Very nice and clean house with full stocked kitchen. My kids had fun crabing and fishing right at the backyard. The view is perfect. Beach access is two minutes drive.
Ideal location for wind surfing and kite boarding, nice floor and furniture updates, still tough to cool the top level Master BR.

Great 180 degree view of Pamlico Sound
The view was fabulous. We watched windsurfers, kiteboarders and kayakers cavort outside the living room window. Highly entertained!

Can't beat the views
Most of the houses in this neighborhood received updates when the homes were sold last year, and this one has brand new flooring and carpeting in certain rooms. Amazing view, nice house layout. We'll be coming back for sure. Staying on the sound is so much nicer than oceanfront.

Great windsurfing vacation
We had a blast there at Island Gale. Lots of room for 8
Very comfortable bed in upper level room. Functional kitchen and amazing view from the spacious lĂźving room.
The amenities outside for storing windsurfing equipment could use some maintenance. You could ad racks for smaller boards.
Outside shower is great.
Awsome vacation.

Location Location Location
Can you tell ⊠loved the location of the house. Sits right on the sound. Perfect place for renting SUPs or Kayaks.
Can sit out on the deck or in the hot tub watching the sunset.
Will definitely return.
Only complaint is the air conditioning to the top floor main suite needs improvement.

Shabby with spectacular views
This property has one of the best views in Avon, we loved that we could walk a few hundred feet between the sound and the community pool. The air conditioner was being repaired when we arrived and broke again on Wednesday and had to be repaired again. The master bedroom on the 3rd floor truly needs a ceiling fan, it's super stuffy up there even when the AC is in good working order. The bathroom in the 3rd floor master needs updating badly. Many of the door knobs are problematic in the house. This house wasn't stocked as well as other homes we've rented in OBX over the years.
Amazing location, clean, spacious nice facilities but a bit too bare bones
Location is great, pool and sound right there plus walk to a lovely beach.
But house did not come with some basics like a sponge or starter coffee or trash bags. Not a big deal if you are fully prepared but a hassle if you donât think to pack every possible thing for your vacation.
We would likely stay there again because we coordinate with friends but hope that the management company decides to invest an extra 20$ in comfort costs (for a rental that is quite pricey).
We called on Tuesday to ask for a sponge but got to response.
Cable tv also did not work.

Island Gale is a gale of issues
We loved Island Creek, but there were many issues issues with the Island Gale house.
The house is generally in a run down condition.
1) the house cleaning. It was done, but not well. Dead roaches in 2 bed rooms and and living room. All kinds of residue in kitchen drawers. Disgusting under the kitchen sink area.
This was brought to the attention of Vacasa client service, we received a call from house cleaning, but no one showed up to correct the situation.
2) Broken plumbing. Bath drains were clogged, no pressure or even no water at times in some outlets
Third: only a couple of spouts worked in the hot tub
4) no screen doors, so birds would fly in if we left the patio door open

Tired House
Staying in this house for a third time. While spacious, it requires some TLC. The biggest issue is couch and chair upholstery in living room. It badly needs wet professional cleaning. We bring our own covers for couch and chair not to cover them.
Rooms are poorly lit. While the owners are trying to save money on electricity using low power bulbs, they waste a lot forcing the use AC day and night even during cool times: screens are absent on most windows and windows stay closed to avoid bugs and flies . Talk about penny smart and dollar stupid. We would rather open windows and shut AC. The argument about screens being damaged during storms does not apply to Island Tempest where most of the windows have screens.
The house overall leaves impression of being dated and worn out.
That said, Hatteras Realty maintenance team remains terrific, very responsive, helpful and thorough. Same must be said about personable, helpful office staff after 10-15 years renting from them.

House needs TLC
This is our 3d year in this house. While it is quite adequate, it has no personality, just a roof and place to sleep. It is a "tired" house and definitely requires some maintenance and TLC. Carpets need to be replaced long time ago, they do smell. When we moved a sofa from the middle of the room to the wall, a pile of dirt has appeared. I sent a picture of that dirt to the maintenance. We were promised a cleaning credit but that never happened. Kitchen is adequately equipped, however 4 wine glasses in the house intended for 8 people may not be enough. The float in one of the toilets does not sit properly...for 3 years and unless you actuate it a few times, the water keeps running. I tried to fix it myself, but the float chain is tangled badly.
Broken chair under the house was not removed in 3 weeks we stayed. Again, not critical, but the house clearly has no owner.
Well...actually it probably has the owner who DOUBLED the prices for 2022. At the total of $3646 per week in May the house better be...better, much better.
One word about the linen policy. We and majority of people drive down and bringing own linen is not a problem. We would rather bring our own linen than use what hundreds slept on before us. And we do bring our own, but still have to pay for linen "service" . Now the beds are made up before our arrival, so we have to also remove that well used linen we were forced to pay for. And the laundry will wash that unused linen wasting water and detergent.
Linen service MUST BE OPTIONAL. It is a waste of people's money, maintenance time, and bad for environment.
The last, but not the least...we stayed for 3 weeks meaning the house did not require to be cleaned in between weeks twice. Invoice does not specify credit for this.
All that said, we would stay in this house again and again if not for exorbitant 2x price increase.
This time was the end for us. Will look elsewhere.
