Perfect place for some relaxing.
Everything was great. The location is perfect. Walk over to the beach for the sunrise and then catch the sunset right in the backyard. Had two small issues and Vacasa was so quick to handle them. Plenty of space overall A+++++ experience.
Disappointing Experience at Outer Banks Vacation Home
Our recent stay at a vacation home in Outer Banks left much to be desired. While the location was convenient and the house tidy with plenty of space, several significant issues soured our experience.
Firstly, despite the tidy appearance, the bedrooms were uncomfortably hot throughout our stay. Each room had only a tiny vent, all of which were inexplicably closed, severely limiting airflow. The upstairs room was particularly stifling with virtually no ventilation.
Adding to our discomfort, the interior of the house was marred by dead bugs scattered about, which was unsettling to say the least. This oversight in cleanliness detracted from the otherwise promising appearance of the property.
The most frustrating aspect of our stay was the laundry situation. We specifically booked this property for the convenience of onsite laundry facilities, only to find the laundry room locked upon arrival. Our attempts to resolve this issue through Vacasa's help service were met with unhelpful and terse responses. Their communication was subpar at best, with responses like "the laundry is located in the laundry room" failing to address our need for access. Despite escalating the issue by phone, we were informed that the only available person capable of unlocking the laundry room was unreachable, leaving us unable to do our laundry throughout our stay.
In hindsight, the hurried decision to book this property last minute proved to be regrettable. It's evident that the house requires significant attention and maintenance before it should be rented out again. The lack of proper ventilation, cleanliness oversights, and woeful customer service from Vacasa left us with a less than satisfactory vacation experience.
Overall, while the Outer Banks location and spacious layout were positives, the numerous issues we encountered overshadowed any benefits. We would caution future renters to thoroughly vet the property's condition and management responsiveness before booking.
