We spent 2 nights at the Central City Hotel with our daughter. We stayed in a room that slept 3 and it was very spacious and modern. The hotel is in excellent condition and well located to walk to the historical district attractions. We were very pleased to discover you receive free Basel City Access Cards which are good for all the public transportation systems in the city for each person staying there. What a bonus. The city is very accessible via public transportation and very safe. Also enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel. It was very supplied with a good variety of fresh foods. Lastly, the front desk and kitchen staff was very helpful. I can’t say enough about the wonderful experience we had there. Highly recommend it.

Best showers ever; high power and easy to operate! Clean,but old carpets throughout. Nice staff, great location, free coffee, spacious room- the only negative point was that getting to our room required taking two elevators and climbing and descending several steps which made it difficult with our suitcases on our checking out. Our suitcases were kindly carried to our room at checking in which was very nice.

The room was quite large. Lots of windows that opened. Comfortable beds and a nice sitting area with couch and chairs. Bathroom was a very good size. There is not much around the hotel as far as eateries but nothing is really very far.

Hotel receptionist, Kristina, helped us plan our tram trip to Viking port. She spent 30 minutes making ser calls to finally find the correct of 3 ports. She was great!!

A very nice property with friendly and attentive staff. Our room was large, lovely, and very well appointed. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom had a spa-like feel with both rainfall and handheld showerheads with great water pressure. Wonderful after a long day of travel! The neighborhood was so quiet that we slept undisturbed with our windows open!

Staff was great from check-in to check out, breakfast buffet was good, walking distance all over town, gave us tour tips and free transport passes. They also helped us with some paperwork print out to calling our river cruise for location info. Has some steps to our room but didn’t bother us.

The hotel was a great value - we had a very large, clean room and were only a few minutes away from the center of the city and several excellent restaurants. The hotel itself served a good buffet breakfast (for 20 CHF) and within a 5-minute walk we found three very good restaurants. The best of the 3 was Restaurant Fiorentina, where we had wonderful truffle and mushroom-filled ravioli and risotto with shrimp. The Turkish restaurant Pinar served lamb kabobs that were the best lamb we had ever had - close to a good filet mignon. The Lebanese restaurant Za Zaa had a broad range of vegetarian dishes, including the appetizer sampler that we shared for lunch. The hotel staff are multi-lingual, friendly, and helpful. This is a great place to stay if you are visiting Basel and/or overnighting before a Viking river cruise on the Rhine.

Loved everything about the Hotel. I gave staff and service a 3 star because the lady that works at the desk is rude. The 2 gentlemen who worked at the desk are amazing and very helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Travel lite a few steps to the rooms.

A charming little hotel conveniently located near the University Hospital and historic city center. The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. Excellent value. Might be a challenge for handicap accessibility.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The front desk was super helpful…. The breakfast was great. The one negative was the shower stall. I do expect to take a show without hurting myself. The stall was simply too small, I can’t turn around without turn off or turning the water too hot. It was smaller than the ones on cruise ships. Worst of all, the shower was very slippery and I almost fell. I heard the same complaint from our friends. This has to be addressed. Overall it was a very nice hotel and it would be excellent if they fix e shower issue.

Great location with great hospitality

Lovely clean hotel in the old town of Basel, well located, spacious attractive rooms, delicious breakfast. All the staff was very attentive and very helpful from breakfast to reception. Many thanks to Kristina and her colleagues who go the extra mile for guests' happiness!!

The hotel, because of additions, can be challenging to maneuver, especially if guests have large luggage as some rooms require going up and down stairs. It is an interesting warren like setup. If you are on the upper level there are beams and slanted ceilings so watch your head. It’s a room for 4. Staff was excellent and accommodating.
