The Bear at Chandler Brook Village

The Bear is named after the local Bear River. It is tucked in a stand of evergreens and maples within the 128 acre property. Chandler Brook runs through the back of the lot and meanders through a large marshland. Guest enter the front door with a key code provided before check in. The side door gives access to the trash binand leads to the short, lit path to the outhouse.
Inside the yurt you will find a kitchenette complete with a draining sink, insulated water jug, propane camp cook stove, full enameled dinnerware set, Stanley cookware set and french press, silverware, and serving utensils. It is fully furnished with a bar table, 6 barstools, couch, 2 arm chairs, coffee table, and a timber frame loft area! The loft area has a lower queen bed and an upper queen bed. *Note* bedding is not provided. Up to two dogs are welcomed with a pet fee of $20/night per dog. Doggy bags are provided for pet clean up and are located at the front door. Ample hooks are placed throughout the yurt for hanging jackets and drying wet gloves and hats near the propane fireplace. The yurt is equipped with a small solar system that powers the 12v LED lights and 4 USB outlets for charging phones, laptops, and iPads. *Note* guests should bring any adapters needed to plug into USB ports. A guest binder inside offers instructions for the solar power, stoves, a site map, and Bethel area dining and activities guides. Outside, there are 4 outside adirondack chairs placed under strings of outside lights. Solo Bonfire stoves are available for outdoor fires year round. Stacks of firewood, baskets of fire starter and kindling, and cast iron fireplace tools are included at no extra fee!
In addition to the outhouse, guests have access to the centrally located bathhouse. A boardwalk and short trail offer a walking path to the bathhouse. The interior of the rustic/farmhouse stylebathhouse feels warm andinviting. Stained concrete floors are throughout and guests will enjoy the radiant heat on their bare feet when getting out of the shower. The bathhouse has large rustic tub sinks for washing dishes and filling the water jug provided in each yurt. Our well water is tested monthly and adheres to the Maine Drinking Water Program standards.Ithouses a ladies' and gent's side, each with 2 privatehot showers and 2toilet stalls. There is a handicap accessible toilet stall available in both bathrooms.

Guests will enjoy the surrounding forest and trails that we continueto expand. Our primary goal at Western Maine Yurts is to provide our guests with a four-season lodging option that is as connected to nature as possible. We aim to give a more luxurious and convenient camping/glamping experience where you can enjoy a hot shower after a day of outdoor activities. We hope you will enjoy unplugging from the demands of daily life andpause to listen to the rain on the roof, birds singing in the morning, and the breeze blowing in the trees. Take the time to enjoy a cozy cuddle on the couch with your favorite beverage, and get out and explore all that Western Maine and the Bethel area have to offer.

Super cute, clean, convenient option for glamping near Sunday River! We were there for our anniversary. We only got to stay for one night, but we plan to return for a longer stay. Everything is as mentioned in the posting and in the yurt guide shared with us. The outhouse was clean, the bathhouses were super clean, and all the provided amenities were great. We didn't get to have an outdoor fire because Maine is in a drought and everything is extremely dry, which is a wildfire hazard, but we still enjoyed our stay. We set up some camping hammocks and watched the stars instead. The bed was comfy, plenty of space for two adults.10/10 recommend!

Great location

Great place for a few friend's or a family of 4 . We went to sunday river for a quick snowboarding trip. The yurt was conveniently close to the mountain and town. If you can get past the shared outhouse and bath house, which in fact was very nice and heated, this is a great choice.

Great location to town and clean!

Great hosts and property. We went during a yoga retreat so it wasn’t as peaceful as we would’ve liked. It’s not as private as we hoped but overall it worked for what we needed.
