A place from another time hanging in the abyss. To get there you need an effort, but worth it. If you are in Paro, Bhutan, you must visit it. Buddhist tradition in its purest form.

The magnificent Taktsang Monastery also known as the Tigers Nest Monastery. It's believed that Guru Rinpoche flew from Tibet to here on the back of a tigress to meditate for 3 months. This gravity defying monastery is at an altitude of 3120 meters (10,000 feet) and built right into a vertical cliff with a sheer drop below.
Small temple built into the rocks, near the Tiger's Nest, or Taktsang Monastery, Paro, Bhutan.
Paro Taktsang or popularly known as "Tiger's Nest" is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and temple complex, located in the cliffside of the upper Paro valley, in Bhutan. A temple complex was first built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup (stag tshang seng ge bsam grub) cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in the 8th century. It can be accessed by a mere 3hr uphill hike or can have an alternate option of a pony ride up. The Monastery is closed bet 1-2pm for the Monk's observed lunch. The view of the monastery changes constantly depending on which part of the trek you are at. #architecture
