Deferred maintenance and Lack of Accessibility

The home is located in a lovely suburban neighborhood. The Christmas tree was beautiful. However, several pillows were stained and one the seams were torn. The platform bed sticks out-- stubbed toe. The kitchen faucet sprayer needs to be replaced--it sprays out toward the floor and my husband's pants as well as down. One of the bathroom towel racks is loose.We had to purchase toilet paper. The home is not accessible for a wheelchair user.The listing is deceptive. There was no indication that it was a split level home with no access to the kitchen, bedrooms or bathrooms withouts going up and/or down stairs. Our teenage son requires the use of a wheelchair. It was difficult to carry him downstairs to sleep.The entry to the home is barrier free to the living room only. The kitchen would be accessible--if it didn't require accessing a flight of stairs, etc. We spent nearly 2K renting a home that could not be used by all family members. We could have rented other homes or a hotel had we known. As a family, the pictures made it appear like the home was accessible--there was no indication that we would need to ask. We have never encountered the lack of an accessible rental or hotel in all of our travels. It would behoove VRBO and the owners to be clear on the presence of architectural barriers. Disappointed. FYI: VRBO pricing may be misleading. After contacting them I learned the listing is based on the ave. price and an increase may occur during high demand times.

Great home for work crew
