Wingate by Wyndham in Christiansburg, Virginia. This is without doubt the worst hotel I stayed domestically. They charged about 5 times normal rates for the Virginia Tech graduation dates. The staff at the desk was very rude and did not let anyone check in earlier than 3pm even though all rooms were ready. Internet did not work our whole 4 day stay. No safe in room, plugged up sink, wall peeling, slippery bathtub with no mat or grab bars, so-called Business Center empty without any equipment, no maid service even when asked for after three days, snack shelves completely empty in lobby, electric plugs in room defective, broken chair in room, ants in room. Breakfast service food was empty half an hour earlier than of breakfast time. I could go on and on - this is a bad mark for a hotel carrying the Wyndham name.

This hotel was pretty basic. Price was right and it's just off the highway. But it's a no-frills kind of place. The room was clean but the hallways had an awful odor. The breakfast was minimal and the staff were there to do their job and nothing else. I guess we'd stay again if needed but wouldn't be my first choice

Arrived 7pm after driving 12 hours. Room wasnt ready until 8pm The manager on duty , neame Christine, she would not give me a last name was so rude I couldn’t believe it. I own a business and would never talk to clients how she talked ro me and no bottles of water??? Disgrace and hotel is run down and smells lime aewge

I have stayed at this property few times as I visit Blacksburg often. This time I noticed that the whole breakfast options down to a motel standard. It felt like a whole different place. Breakfast was so basic, it felt something major has changed, from cups, plates to options, just down to minimal. Had to use common bathroom next to fitness center, even soap dispenser is missing, a soap bar was kept. I haven’t seen a soap bar in common bathroom for ages. Rooms were still clean and they were kept well.

Room was nice, but the rest of hotel is beat up

The girl at the front desk was nice when I checked in. Unfortunately, the hotel lobby is not very nice. It very 'weathered'. There is a fridge with a few sodas for sale (a lot of hotels do these 'kiosk areas now, but this one had little to no selection). There were people walking barefoot through the lobby. Not that it's illegal to do so, but it speaks to the caliber of the clientele. The hall ways, doors to rooms and elevator are very beat up. I was dreading it after a very long day, but fortunately my room was fine. Basic, but I just needed to sleep before getting on the road again the next day.

Clean exterior, friendly and helpful front desk. That's where things went downhill. Hallways have extensive drywall damage in just the short walk from the lobby to elevator, and from our elevator to our room. Room was mostly clean except for the tobacco smoke smell, bathroom soap already removed from the box as if reused from the previous guest (sitting on top of the open box), missing soap/shampoo to bathe with, and a dead fly stuck behind the bathroom mirror, clearly visible standing in the middle of the bathroom. Place just needs a bit of a makeover.
