Lovely setting, well-equipped kitchen and living areas. We were very comfortable. Only a few minor recommendations: matches and paper for fire-starting in wood stove; Kleenex; more transparency about available sleeping areas - there were no mattresses on the sleeping porch beds. Otherwise it was perfect for our memorial gathering.
Very comfortable home right on the lovely waters of the Mackenzie River. Everything was as advertised or better. Comfortable beds, livingroom chairs, and well equipped kitchen which sometimes presented a "can you find me" challenge!" Both open deck and screened porch were great options to enjoy the river while reading, chatting, or playing a board game. Great active outdoor options too (e.g., hiking) nearby (be sure to hike the falls portion of the Mackenzie River Trail, about 30 minutes away). Very responsive home manager too. The only thing that was not 5-stars was the internet, which was sometimes slow and sometimes dropped the server, but that may be more related to the provider than the home owner.
We had a wonderful stay at the Belknap House. Everything is even more beautiful than the photos depict. The instructions were easy to follow and the owners were super responsive to any questions or minor issues that arose during our stay. I would highly recommend this property for a visit to McKenzie Bridge.
Absolutely gorgeous location on the river - with fantastic patio. A few issues that kept it from 5 stars.1. "Gotcha Pricing". Booked a year ago - and thought I had rented the house. The day before we arrived - we get a message, "do you want to rent the 2 optional rooms?" No communication about this for a year... and then the day before we arrive, the price essentially goes up 50%. I had missed it in the fine print... but it felt like "gotcha".2. Horrible water pressure for all 6 days. No communication until I reached out. The response was, "Yes, we know - we are getting it fixed after you leave."
sweet house nestled in trees(after the huge burn) with easy access to limited stores, great restaurants and gorgeous natural wonderspros: easy drive to natural surroundingsexcellent restaurants nearby(the brisket at one, pulled pork at the other)deck at the water with great chairsso many books!great windows everywhere to enjoy nature viewcomfortable nice living room space(we didnt use)kitchen fairly stocked for cookscons: bathroom downstairs only through bedroom for allthe mouse that came out under dishwasher across the floor(we stored all foods up in cupboards after) not a freak out-but not excited about itlosing ALL water 2 hours before checkout w/no notice when they knew a week prior. we would not have been literally in shower. the 15 minutes turned into almost total rest of time making it difficult to shower, fill water bottles, cook, make tea/coffee. forknowledge would have been appropriate and we would not have been as upset by losing access to all water that morn.the property manager when gently informed of mice said literally "everyone out here has mice, you can't ever get rid of them all-like illegal immigrants" it was Very unexpected, uncomfortable, terrible, unacceptable and unnecessary thing to say about human beings. ***we will not be going back, and do not recommend***
