Comfortable, quiet stay in La Candelaria area

Bed was very comfortable, Shower was luxurious. Breakfast was pretty good and available till 10 :) Floorboards were very creaky and room had little to no storage space but had cable tv. Took a couple days to feel at home in the room. Loved the rooftop terrace. Staff was very nice and helpful. Hostel was near many bars, restaurants and interesting things. I just wouldnt recommend going out on a Sunday night, many things in the neighborhood are closed and we didnt feel safe. However within the Casa we felt perfectly safe.

In Good Hands at Casa Platypus!!

The two gentlemen at the front desk, Erwin and Ramón, were so kind and accommodating, and I felt extremely well taken care of! Breakfast was lovely, and the rooftop is airy and open:)

Don't go there!

No water pressure. Water was a trickle of either scalding hot or freezing. Bed hard as a rock. Breakfast bad.

Clean place, neighborhood okay

The woman at the front desk made this experience. I did not get her name, but she went out of her way to accommodate us. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were extremely clean, albeit simple. The walls were very thin and I could hear everything people said outside our room the following morning. Also, the neighborhood was not what I expected - I was hoping for great bars and restaurants nearby, but the area was a little on the sketchy side. During the day, the neighborhood was fine and it was very close to Monserrate.

Noisy

We stayed here on a friday and saturday nights. Impossible to sleep due to loud music until 3 in the morning and dogs barking around 6 in the morning. Internet free and easily accessible. Free coffee, excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Very efficient and conveniently located hotel

The hotel was very welcoming and efficient. The staff were helpful and very willing to give advice and information. The relaxed dining and sitting area on the first floor was a nice place to sit as the rooms were quite small. Guests are able to use the kitchen facilities also. It was a bit noisy at night (internal rather than street noise) but of course that depends on who else is coming and going on any individual night.

Great location

I found the staff very helpful and knowledgable. The bed very comfortable and a good breakfast. Keep in mind this is an old building so not soundproof but then the charm and service of smaller hotels is what is important to me. Be advised this is the newer platypus not the hostel.

Quaint hotel in great location

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Casa Platypus. When traveling, I try to find hotels with character. Casa Platypus was just what I was looking for. It is in the La Candelaria, which is a artsy/historic part of Bogota. We were walking distance to all the things we wanted to see (excluding the Zona Rosa). The room was small, but very clean. The shower was also great (great water pressure and heat). The hotel staff were helpful. . We enjoyed our stay there so much, that we decided to book another night for our last night in Colombia. I would definitely recommend Casa Platypus to anyone traveling through Bogota. On a side note: One thing I was surprised about when arriving to Bogota was the amount of graffiti/ street art. I then came to realize (after walking around Bogota for a few days), it is used as an art form and as a way to express political ideas.
