Matresses were very cheap and uncomfortable ,bath had ill fitting plug so bathwater did not stay in the tub ,shower had little to no pressure , breakfast was awful no real bacon ,beans and hash browns were luke warm at best.

Price was good, room cleanliness and staff were good. BUT bed comfort was appalling absolutely terrible. Mattresses was all springs which cut into you and were noisy and could be felt the whole night. The pillows were also terrible (about 2 cm thick). If they invested in new beds it would have been great.

Room was ok but bathroom was grim ,mouldy and limescale over taps and showerhead. Woken up at 05.50 by someones child shouting this went on til.nearly 8am.

This Hotel keeps improving. The owners are certainly working hard. As with each of my stays hear, the room was clean, included tea and coffee, hairdryer, free Wi-Fi and plenty of channels on the TV. Water is hot and the luxury of a heated towel rail. Breakfast is much improved. Food is now available in the evenings. The menu is not large but the food was excellent and very well presented, the best meal I have had eating out in a long time. Three courses and a can of soft drink for under £20. I can certainly recommend the food and I am looking forward to my next stay.

The hotel is run down and missing some of the amenities that are advertised. For example, there was no iron in the room and the bar and restaurant were both closed when I arrived at 9pm. The receptionist tried to charge me for breakfast that I had already paid for and I then had to ask to move rooms due to flying insects in the bathroom in my original room. The whole place had a feeling of having been abandoned and I did not feel at all comfortable. The towels and bedding were clean but other areas felt grubby and in need of re-decorating. The WiFi was poor quality and I did not see a single member of staff at breakfast or check out. It may be cheap but it's not good value. I would never choose to stay here again.

Not an ideal overnight stop

This hotel apparantly has recently reopened after housing asylum seekers. There is a poor cleaning regime and general decoration is poor. We only discovered the once excellent restaurant on site no longer existed. Breakfast was sel& service to the extreme - I’ve never had to fill and boil a kettle in the breakfast area of a hotel before with the obvious public health and safety issues if there had been children present. I now know this is a cheap overnight bed stop in the main for tradesmen etc and not ideal for the elderly or couples on a road trip but that’s my fault for not checking reviews and rather remembering what a better place this was prior to 2020. At least there is EV charging at the adjacent garage. The hotel car park bin was overflowing with rubbish and I felt it necessary to use a steering lock for the night!
