We found a 5 inch black spider on the wall above the bed and took pictures. Absolutely disgusting. My wife and I complained. We asked for a refund for the remaining day because we didn't want to stay there any longer, of course. We were denied a refund but were offered another room, which we promptly refused. It completely ruined our weekend, as you can imagine. Be careful and good luck.
The Mayfair offers rooms from single bed up, at great rates which include parking, no 'frills' - pool spa etc.
My single room was clean and adequate, walking distance from seafront and local amenities.
I had a misfortune which caused me to call short my stay overnight, reception was closed.
The following day Expedia and the Hotel dealt with the issue quickly and made a refund, which they were not obliged to under the conditions.
The room we were given was terrible. The old furniture didn't match the pictures, and the carpet was very old and hadn't been vacuumed. The breakfast was poor, and we didn't even bother with dinner, We had breakfast and dinner outside. The Wi-Fi was unrulable and kept disconnecting every minute... The windows wouldn't even close, it was very noisy outside. The stairs were old and not well-maintained. We won't be coming here again.
Although the staff were friendly and welcoming the room was generally poor. The mattress was poorly sprung and uncomfortable to sleep on. The shower/bath tap mixer wasnât working properly and ran mostly with spurts of warm water. The bath and sink had no blogs so we were unable to even bath! This soiled our weekend away. The room was definitely no worth the money. I would not be able to recommend this hotel to any one in all good conscience!
Great hotel which is up and coming and the team were soo welcoming and polite. They were supportive of my needs and it was such a effortless stay and very relaxing. I will stay there again.
Moved to Suncliff Hotel due to large party booking (wedding?)at Mayfair Hotel, so review is for Suncliff. Decor looking tired in places. 4th floor accommodation: bed very stiff and not comfortable. One roller blind was down halfway on arrival with broken/rusty chain laying on window sill, so unable to limit sunshine beaming through window at 06:30 in the morning. Stains on carpet around lounge area. Unable to give review to reception desk on checking out as understaffed and felt rushed through due to busy period (10:30).
Hotel is tired and dated. Lift is not fit for purpose. Too many additional stairs and small corridors to negotiate. Paid 12.00 per night to park in carpark but still forced to park on grass verge as no room left. Bathroom dirty with hairs in bath, bedroom not much better
