In less than 2 minutes, you will be spending your day on the beach, or venture out a bit further and hang out fishing in one of the many great spots nearby. Sightings along the Gulf of Mexico beach and inter-coastal waterway include Manatees, Rays, Dolphins, many kinds of fish, a wide variety of birds, and other amazing creatures. Common sights along the beach areas include Sea Turtle nests and bird nesting sanctuaries during special times of the year. Once in a while, youâll come across a Gulf-side wedding!
While some prefer the isolation of the nearby beaches, others opt toward more people at the public beaches. If that is your desire, venture to Coquina Beach at the south end of Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island, or Manatee County Beach at the west end of Manatee Avenue in Holmes Beach, or Anna Maria Pier at the east end of Pine Avenue for the intercoastal/Tampa Bay access. Anna Maria Pier is a special place where many times you can see fish, rays, dolphins, and manatees swimming underneath you as well as fish from the dock and have a nice meal or an ice cream cone at Two Scoops Ice Cream Shop. (The Pier is currently under repair, Winter 2017.)
If you're in the mood to tour around the rest of the island, catch the free trolley around the corner and it will take you to any of the beaches, restaurants, shops or grocery stores along Gulf Drive anywhere on Anna Maria Island. Take the trolley to the old historic Bridge Street area of Bradenton Beach to enjoy the Key West style restaurants and shops. If you enjoy painting or photography, the sunsets are among the best in the world.
Enjoy live music nightly and dinner at Manatee Public. By timing it right (usually 7 pm), you can enjoy sea creature (fish, eel, and shark) feeding by the owner while enjoying Ice Cream at Holy Cow Ice Cream.
A lovely sunrise can be enjoyed along the Coquina Baywalk. Bean Point and Coquina Beach are great beaches to visit along with Sunset Park next to our home.
Just across the Cortez bridge on the south side of the island, is the old school Florida fishing village of Cortez, where restaurants have excellent seafood and some have live music. Swordfish Grill is our favorite on the dock.
We have 3 favorites for breakfasts: 1) Rod & Reel Pier, 2) Ginny's & Jane E's, and 3) The Donut Experiment (fun for the kids but not completely filling).
Eco tours and on the Gulf and Intercoastal via boats, kayaks and jet skis are always nice. The Ringling Museum in Sarasota is great.
The Regina is a sugar barge that sunk just off our beach during a storm in 1940. It is in about 20 feet of water just 150 feet or so off the beach. It is marked with a buoy. The Regina is 10th Florida Shipwreck Underwater Archaeological Preserve.
There is a small reef of rocks about 150 feet northwest from the Sunset Park Beach directly west of our home. I like to swim out to it and then dive down 8-10 feet to see colorful fish like the striped Sheepshead, etc.
Our kids love going to the Bridge Street Pier or taking the free trolley just outside the door up to Anna Maria Pier and looking for fish in the water (especially in the morning to early afternoon when you can see well through the clear water), talking to the fisherman, and eating at the restaurant or getting ice cream at Two Scoops. The Blueberry Pie ice cream is my favorite... The Trolley stops every 20 minutes from about 6 am to 10 pm.
Come enjoy the unbelievable location of the Beach View Retreat near corner of Gulf & Cortez!
The whole home is yours. You will have a great time including sitting on the covered patio listening to the waves of the Gulf of Mexico lapping up on the beach.
The best way to find our home is through your GPS system or an online map system. The address of the home is:
Beach View Retreat 501 Gulf Drive North Suite 207 Bradenton Beach, FL 34217
Park in the marked space to the right of the elevator to the stairwell attached to the west building side closest to the beach and Gulf Drive.
Walk up stairs or take the elevator to the top floor to Suite 207 in the southwest corner of the building.
There are two main bridges across from the mainland to Anna Maria Island. Cortez Bridge is on Cortez Rd right next to the home. Manatee Avenue is the other bridge but two miles north of the home so once you get across the bridge, turn left = south on Gulf Drive to 501 Gulf Drive North at the corner of Cortez Rd. As most key islands in southwest Florida, the island is very narrow east to west so the main road going north to south is Gulf Dr.
Please use only 2 parking spaces. One dedicated parking space for Suite 207 on the west side of the building next to Gulf Drive. There may be one other parking space with the parking hanger near the swimming pool. For that space, only park in a space that is NOT marked with a designated number, which are committed to that home owner. Remember that the second space is "First Come, First Serve." Thanks!!
If you're in the mood to tour around the rest of the island, catch the free trolley around the corner and it will take you to any of the beaches, restaurants, shops or grocery stores along Gulf Drive most anywhere on Anna Maria Island all the way from Coquina Beach at the south end to Pine Avenue and Anna Maria Pier at the north end. Take the trolley one stop down (or stroll along the beach the one mile) to the old historic Bridge Street area of Bradenton Beach to enjoy the Key West style restaurants and shops. If you enjoy painting or photography, the sunsets are among the best in the world.

Great view of the gulf and beach. Location was amazing albeit at a very busy, loud intersection. Didnât bother us at all and was not a problem at night. Many walkable restaurants and close to Bridge street. Because there is no public parking close the beach right in front never had many people on it. Pool was also very nice and a good option. The Condo itself is fine, not fancy and could use some upgrades but this rental is all about the location in my opinion and we will be back! Love Anna Maria island.
The place was exactly as shown. Truly a beautiful place with all the essentials needed in an apartment. The sunsets from the balcony were put of this world. Rex was amazing on making sure we were comfortable. Thank you for sharing your place with us. Will definitely stay there again.
Great location! Quick walks to restaurants, shops and the beach! Great layout of the condo -we had tons of space! Owner is super quick responding! We did not have any issues with anything!
Our stay was amazing. The unit we stayed in was immaculate and had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. The kitchen was fully stocked with items needed to cook, which has never been the case at other locations I stayed at in Florida. Everything you need for the beach is also included from towels to beach toys, umbrellas, chairs, and a wagon. Beach access is right across the street so it's a short walk to what I would consider the most beautiful beaches in Florida. The unit is centrally located and within walking distance to restaurants and stores. The view from the balcony shows off the beautiful sunsets and I loved sitting outside with my morning coffee. Zero complaints about our stay. Would like travelers to know that Bradenton and AMI is still in recovery from the last hurricanes they went through. I knew this going in and still chose to go bc I felt good about putting whatever money I spent into the local economy.
Property was right across street from beach that was never crowded.. many restaurants nearby.beds very comfy. Condo very large and room for all. Will visit again
The home was clean, neat, and organized. The kitchen was well stocked. The bathrooms could use a few more washcloths. The master bedroom was warmer than the rest of the condo, but we found a fan in a closet.
The unit was advertised as a 3 bedroom condo and I though that was what I rented, but when I got the confirmation printout, it said 2 bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the family room (which was the living room). That was upsetting because we needed 3. One adult was cheated out of a private sleeping area and had no closet. And a 2 bedroom condo usually costs less. I did email the owner and got no response but maybe it was the type of mailbox that is not monitored for incoming mail. Maybe I should have called him instead. We made do with the situation and still had fun.
It is a good location but is right next to Cortez - a main entry to the island - there was a lot of traffic. You have to cross Gulf Dr to get to the beach and Gulf Drive is a busy street, but people are usually courteous and let you cross in front of them. There was maintenence /repair going on in/around other units in the building so there was quiet a bit of noise in the area. These things were annoyances, but not a game-changer. The area has many attractions and things to do close by. The Wicked Cantina and Green Turtle Gift Shop are just a short walk away, the beach is across the street.
The owner has a storage area that has beach items, chairs, even a wagonâthis is a great, cost saving convenience
We loved it so much, we're already planning to go back next year! This condo is HUGE and is the best-equipped place we have stayed. There is so much attention to detail; everything you need is available and the property is beautiful. You can tell that the owners have thought of anything and everything you'll need to have a fabulous beach vacation. FIVE STARS all around! âââââ
Very clean, great location, had everything we needed, close to beach couldnât ask for a better place to stay, we had a very relaxing, peaceful, much needed vacation!
The condo was very nice . Location was excellent, close to everything. The only negative is that this condo is on a very busy intersection . It was very noisy if you wanted to sit outside on the deck and enjoy the ocean and the view .
Well-stocked huge kitchen; new very large fridge and dishwasher. Every small apppliance one could ever want. Well-equipped ensuite bathroom but separate toilet room very old fashioned; same in 2nd bathroom with combination tub/shower and toilet in separate room. The plungers did not work in any of the 3 bathroom sinks. The owner was notified, a repairman was sent but nothing was fixed while we were there.
The apartment is located on the corner of the busiest intersection on the island and is very noisy except between 2AM - 6AM. Never used either balcony because of the roar of traffic. The whole building is old and rundown. However, the pool is very large and well-maintained. The building is central to dining and activities which is a plus.
The Bradenton Beach condo is in a great location. The beach is directly across the street with nothing blocking your view. Great restaurants and shops are a short walk away. The condo is clean and stocked with the basics. Even though it is on a busy corner there is no night traffic noise. We would definitely stay here again.
My parents, niece, and I had an AMAZING week at this fantastic location! The condo was very spacious and we loved that there was a wagon, beach chairs, umbrellas, pails and shovels for use. The pool was a great option for mornings with my niece before the beach. The pool water was very comfortable (temperature). We had all the utensils, pots, and pans we needed-however we went out to eat nearly every day. Keeping the shades closed during the day in the bedrooms helped cool it down. The toilet in the second bedroom (queen) was very sluggish-otherwise no complaints at all. Check in and out process was easy. Loved that there were hoses in the garage area to rinse sand off after the beach. The washer and dryer was VERY handy. The location was great-right in between the Kokonut Hut and The Beachhouse restaurant. Short walk (7 minutes) to Bridge Street for shopping. We would recommend this condo to all family and friends. We were especially grateful to Rex who was so accommodating in rebooking us after a situation out of our control changed our travel plans-THANK YOU!!
