Darrell was very accommodating for our overnight stay at Rockin Star Ranch. Great getaway place or place for a beautiful wedding. Will plan to visit often with family and friends đ.
My two-year-old toddler and I stay at the Elk room in the barn. It was the best ranch stay weâve ever had. The room is lovely and peaceful at night. It was the experience that made the stay so unique. We got to âdriveâ the backhoe around (a dream came true!!), rode the ATV to feed the cows (the cows are so beautiful), rode horses and observed how cowboys had their days, swam in the pool with a beautiful viewâŠthanks Darrell for his hospitality. We feel like part of the family the whole time we stayed there. I would definitely recommend it to families with kids who love nature and animals.
Beautiful property. My niece was visiting from out of town and I wanted to stay someplace out of the ordinary. This was perfect. The owner showed us around when we arrived. Saw the baby chicks in the incubator, the 3-day old baby goats. The farm also has some pigs, horses, elk and some exotics. Was such a wonderful escape from the city. We also saw several of the different accommodations and they were all beautiful as was the event center. Such a great getaway and was so peaceful. Beautiful property and wonderful host. Highly recommended.
Very nice place! Will be returning in the future. Visit the website to fully take advantage of all they have to offer. Also Lots to visit in surrounding towns.
It is always a joy to stay here! One of my favorite places in Washington CountyâŠDarrell the host goes above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant as possible!
The Rockin' Star property is a wonderful ranch experience. The setting is spectacular. The location is just a short drive outside of Brenham. There was a wedding reception the day we were leaving. We were able to see their set-up. It was truly gorgeous. Stepping into the main event room was like stepping into a ballroom fit for a queen (or bride). The wedding party family stayed in the small cabins by the beautiful pool area and outdoor kitchen/patio. Each cabin had a front patio with rocking chairs and the back had a grill overlooking the grazing area of the field. My friend and I booked the Elk Antler room not realizing it was not an addition onto the arena but actually inside the arena building sharing a bath with another room. That would have been perfect if I had my great nephew or great niece with me. They would have loved sleeping by the animals. My friend and I decided to see if we could switch rooms. Darrell Griffith and his mother, Gail were very accommodating. They allowed us to make the change. In the evening we had a wonderful lighted deck with chaise lounge chairs to sit on to watch the sunset. The decor all around the property was perfect for a ranch. We truly enjoyed our visit with Gail. Our experience at the Rockin' Star was delightful. We will be trying the cabin experience on our next stay. A big thank you to Gail and Darrell!
The owner was amazing and made our stay very memorable. Love the outdoors and all the animals. We will definitely return to this beautiful and friendly cabin for our next getaway!!
I had a very good time getting away from the big city for a few days and relaxing in the comfort of animals and a beautiful ranch. The hosts immediately made me feel right at home and went out of their way to make sure I was having a nice visit. I woke up each morning with a fresh egg from the chicken coop and spent the days fishing and exploring the property. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable place outside of the big city.
This is a unique and lovely place. I misread the listing. I thought we were getting a cabin and did not realize we were staying in rooms in the stable area that shares a bathroom.
I would totally recommend the facility for anyone comfortable with shared facilities. Beautiful horses, fun goats and fowl. The decor and room layout was charming. I would go back again but make sure I reserved a cabin.
The host was helpful, so prompt with replies. We enjoyed our small tour of the stable.
Our family needed a break from city life, and Rockin Star Ranch came highly recommended from a work colleague. It exceeded our expectations! From the time we drove in, we could feel ourselves relax. Staying in the rooms located in the barn/stables was perfect for our family. The horses, chickens & turkeys, goats, and pigs were all within steps of our room (all but horses located outside of barn). Chickens = fresh eggs in the morning! One of the hands, Arturo, showed us where the horse feed was located, and we were able to feed the horses out of our hand.
The host, Darrell, was exceptional. He welcomed us with a drive through the property, and made us feel like we were at home. With every request or question we had, Darrell quickly responded. I especially appreciated his realness. It felt like he truly tries to "see" his guests. He went over and beyond when teaching us how to ride a horse. Very patient and great teacher! Another night, he setup the firepit and had everything for making s'mores. Needless to say, all kiddos were very happy. :)
The ONLY downside to this room is the bathroom is located on the opposite end of the barn from this room. It's well worth the walk, but if you'd like to be closer, the Oryx Horn room is within a few feet of it.
Highly recommend Rockin Star! Can't wait to return! Appreciate Darrell and his crew.
Our family is always looking for something off the beaten path. For a mother/daughter getaway with my 11 year old, Rockin Star Ranch was the perfect fit. Then a simple getaway became The Storm of the Century in Texas. With bad weather bearing down, we decided to just go for it. Glad we did
Darrell contacted us before our trip to answer any questions and make sure we were aware of possible challenges with the coming snow storm. One, being the well freezing so water gets turned off. My daughter and I were not deterred, we stopped on the way and bought more water.
When we arrived, our host John showed us the highlights and graciously moved us to Western Star cottage. The arena, where we originally booked, felt too removed to my daughter for the weather headed our way. He also brought us water when time came to turn off the source. They have a great balance of attentive without being intrusive.
It has been a wonderful few days and the cottage has turned into a great calm away from all the crazy. It's bigger than it appears from the outside. My daughter loves having the loft to herself. The queen bed is super comfortable with very soft sheets and I'm kinda picky. Everything from the furniture arrangement to the charming rustic decor gives off a really cozy vibe, which is what you want with negative wind chills outside. And we've had everything we need for a great stay.
More than a few times the call of the wild got the best of us and we had to go visit the animals in the arena. It's hard to resist those baby goats! Or check out the wildlife in the back pasture. Or the deer by our cottage. Or the horses everywhere.
We also snuck in a round or two of ping pong in the game room.
We have to leave and go back to the crazy. Rolling power outages, freezing cold, and crazy drivers, but we have very much enjoyed our time at the ranch and look forward to visiting again soon in warmer weather.
We have stayed multiple times and this one was nothing less than another perfect getaway! My three girls and I absolutely love spending time at Rockin Star Ranch and our favorite place to stay is in the Oryx and Elk rooms in the stables! We love being close to the animals and the new outdoor living area is amazing. Every evening was spent there eating dinner, playing games and watching movies. We fished, swam, ran, relaxed, enjoyed every second of a hayride and feeding the animals, played games, met new friends, collected fresh veggies and eggs and as always didnât want to leave. Darrell is an outstanding host who is continually improving the property and the experience of staying here. We can not wait to return!
Literally the finest ranch experience an hour from Houston! From the animals to the amenities you will not find a finer place! Boys weekends, girls weekends, business retreats or weddings - Rockin Star Ranch is a step above!
I grew up around farm animals, dirt roads, tractors and all things country. I moved to the big city of Houston a few years back for a job and needed to get away for the city. I came to Rock Star Ranch by myself and stayed in a room that is located in the barn. It is clean, rustic, and has a very comfortable feel to it! Every morning I woke up, I got to see baby chicks, horses, goats, chickens, pigs and pretty cool dog named, Wolfy. (Husky, looks like a wolf) . There is a pool near the cottages, with a fire pit, you can see the stars (ALL OF THEM) when the sky is clear, Rain on the tin roof is bliss, and Darrell is laid back, easy to get along with and will definitely be coming back again soon!
