This Secluded 4 bedroom 2 bath Mountain Retreat, on a 5 acre parcel, is like renting your own Private State Park. The Cabin is within easy (4 minutes) walking distance to Slick Rock Mountains private 12 acre swimming and fishing lake! This 2 story family cabin comfortably sleeps 8. Upstairs is an open floor plan, living room/ kitchen/ dining room with King master bedroom and full bathroom. Downstairs is a 3 bedroom (queen, double, and trundle=2 twins) with another full bathroom and washer dryer. Also the downstairs has been recently remodeled with brand new wood tile flooring throughout. The cabin is loaded with all kinds of modern amenities, like flat screen televisions, wifi, huge fireplace and a well stocked kitchen!
The many porches give you an "in the woods getaway feel" and the outdoor fire pit, picnic tables, bbq grill and chairs make it a perfect summer camp for your family. We regularly have deer and White Squirrels all around the cabin.. pretty amazing wildlife :)
Slick Rock Mountain is a Private 350 acre mountain located in Brevard NC. This quiet, back to nature community, is perfectly located to enjoy DuPont state forest 6.8 miles away (where the movie Hunger Games was filmed) as well as Pisgah National Forest (10 miles) and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Brevard's slogan is "Land of Waterfalls" and for good reason, there are many amazing hikes to these beautiful waterfalls and many other outdoor activities for nature lovers young and old, from mountain biking, river rafting, horseback riding, hiking, fishing or just relaxing on the deck to watch a gorgeous sunset.

We would love for you to come have an amazing, relaxing, adventurous vacation of a lifetime at our cabin!!

Beautiful cabin in the forest.

This is a beautiful cabin nestled in the forest. We enjoyed everything about it, inside and out. It was a short drive to all the waterfalls, covered bridges, shops, restaurants, and much more. It was very clean and very well furnished. Would definitely recommend!

Relaxed Thanksgiving Vacation

Comfortable cabin in relaxed private community. Dated but in a charming way that makes you feel more at home than in a hotel. Communication with the owners was fantastic. Our stay was right after a major hurricane and the property had been nicely cleaned up.

Amazing location

We loved out stay at the cabin, the easy access to the lake for swimming. Our 2 year old loved the beach, swing and slide. The mushrooms growing all over the woods around the cabin were amazing too.

Great cabin with lake for swimming/fishing

Overall, great cabin with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The decks and screened in porch was very nice. Multiple homes in the area, but cabin was private. Access to the lake was wonderful for swimming and fishing. Our kids really enjoyed this. Host was quick to respond to a few questions we had. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect for our family

A beautiful setting for a weekend away. A family member was getting married at the pavilion so it was nice to have a place of our own. The kitchen had everything you would need and more. There was plenty of space and the Master bedroom was beautiful. Great for families where you can put the kids in the ground level bedrooms. The ground floor bedrooms share a nice bath with a washer and dryer. They are what you would expect from the era the cabins on Slick Rock were built. Perfect for teens who like to sleep in.

Amazing place

The house is in a great location. Deer in the yard in the mornings. Not far from town but feels like it’s miles from anywhere. Nice fire pit. Lake is beautiful!!

This is the second time we have stayed here and definitely won’t be the last. Love everything about this property. Location is great to hiking and waterfalls. Deer and white squirrels in the backyard. An amazing screen porch to enjoy your morning coffee. Can’t wait to come back!!!

White squirrel weekend

Beautiful grounds, house has perfect layout. Enjoyed swings on porches. Great kitchen. We walked to lake and caught several fish. We saw several white squirrels running around the yard! We sat around large fire pit at night. Perfect house for a visit to Brevard!

Where dreams come true.

This property was an amazing place. This was one of the first hole family trips that we enjoyed together and we made lots of awesome memories here. The best part was seeing my grandson seeing and interacting with his first deer that just came up to the house. The property had everything that you could need and more. Highly recommend to everyone.

Cabin in the Woods

Nice wooded property. Upstairs layout very good with nicely equipped kitchen, large great room with gas fireplace, and spacious master bedroom and bath. Lower floor bedrooms were small and dark not as nicely done as the main level. Bath was small to serve 3 bedrooms. Outdoor firepit area was not cleaned up and wood was a huge pile uncovered so it was mostly wet. A decent stack of split wood covered should have been provided.

October family get together

Enjoyed our stay. It was a great place to gather, visit the national park, hike and fish. Kitchen was very well equipped, beds comfy, and very quiet. Lots of deer and white squirrels. Highly recommend.

Family Reunion Getaway

Perfect spot to hang out, swim, enjoy nature, and relax! We met up with several relatives and the house had everything we needed to grill out, enjoy s'mores in the evening, and get out during the day to enjoy the lake and surrounding forest.

It was a ways back to this cabin, but I loved it. It was so quiet & secluded and 2 resident white squirrels. Deck & porches were great. Downstairs rooms are rather dark. House has window units for a/c which was rather noisy in great room; and there was no unit in upstairs bedroom. Wish we had more time to spend enjoying the quiet and that lovely lake

Great Family Stay

We had such a great stay with our three kids (10, 13, and 16)! The bedrooms downstairs were fantastic for the kids (their own spaces) and the open floor plan upstairs was great for all of us. The kitchen had all amenities we needed for cooking at home. We enjoyed family game night with all the games provided, and enjoyed s’mores one night with the great fire pit outside. We visited Brevard, Asheville, Pisgah Forest and Dupont Forest before dropping the kids at camp. We hope to be back so soon! We saw the white squirrels right outside our window and the kids thought ALL the wildlife was so magical!

We loved the peace and serenity of the rental, and this is our second year to stay there. The fishing is wonderful and the location allows for privacy but is convenient to restaurants, stores, and attractions. The only down side are the extreme VRBO fees, insurance, etc. Would be nice if trusted (returning) customers could be somewhat discounted on the fees.

Summer Camp

We had a great time. Mr. Ballard was very kind and quick to respond to questions we had. The fishing was fun - hiking, white squirrels and deer were all great to see. we felt like we were far out in the woods and loved the screened porch. like living in the treetops.
