New! Welcome to Olympic Wanderer! This adorable creekside PNW cabin will blow you away with its charm, beautiful lush grounds, hot tub, and fire pit. The cabin is nestled in a private forested community next the hood canal, famous for its rich waters and shellfish harvesting. This is the perfect base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a great central location close to endless amazing hiking trails, including Olympic NP and multiple state parks less than 10 minutes away.
The highlight of the cabin is the log bridge across the creek! You will feel like you are on an amazing hiking trail or in a fairytale on the rainforest-like grounds with a babbling brook or rushing creek running through it depending on how much rain we have had. Our property is directly across the street from access to the national forest service roads with miles of roads and trails. The cabin is older and rustic, and we are slowly renovating it over time. You will find plenty of imperfections, but also loads of charm. While the space is a work in progress, you will still find it clean, well appointed, comfortable and attractive. Please keep this in mind when considering booking. Upon entering, you will first come into the sun room which contains a desk and work space. The living space and kitchen are open concept, and there is seating for 4 at the dining room table and 2 countertop barstools as well. The adorable kitchen has everything you need to cook meals during your stay, including all cooking essentials and basic spices. We also have pancake mix and quick oats for our guests in case you forgot to bring your own breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay in late summer, you can walk across the street to pick wild blackberries. The living room has a large TV and a nice selection of DVDs to choose from. We also have Dish satellite TV, which does give options for ordering movies for an additional fee. There is WIFI but due to the property’s rural location, satellite Internet is the only service available and streaming is not an option unfortunately. The bathroom is on the lower level, as well as the first bedroom which has a queen bed. As for the second floor, you will need to climb the staircase, which is a bit steep and narrow. The 2nd bedroom opens up with a barn door and also has a queen bed as well as beautiful views of the creek and trees. For this reason it is my favorite bedroom! On the other side from the 2nd bedroom on the upper floor is the kids corner, which has 2 matching twin beds, some fun forest animal wall decor, and an art easel. The kids corner is separated from the bedroom by the barn door, but does not have a privacy door separating it from the stairwell. At the bottom of the stairs is the mud room which is a an enclosed patio and is a great place to store recreational equipment or wet/muddy items. It also allows excess to the deck, which features the hot tub, bbq and an outdoor dining table w/umbrella.
Please note that this an older rustic cabin with plenty of imperfections. There is a narrow steep staircase going to the upstairs bedroom and the location of the staircase is a bit awkward in the back entrance room of the house. We do not feel that these imperfections are anything that would effect the functionality of the house. It is a work in progress that we are renovating slowly over time. If you are looking for a new or high end luxury property, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for an outdoor haven with loads of character and charm, it’s a great fit!
