The house overall was very nice and spacious. Although the AC up stairs did not work properly it stayed 89 degrees the whole time we was there. I called the maintenance man he came out said it needed some coolant I do believe, but I assume that was out of his hands because he never came back. The hot tub was working fine you just couldnât turn on the jets. The Wi-Fi is terrible did not work at all, but they do warn you before hand that it might not work. We couldnât find the remote to the front room down stairs TV to be able to watch Satellite.
From the minute we entered we had issues. When we arrived, the door was unsecured/left open for presumably hours. I arrived (alone w 5 of my kids) & had to keep them locked in the car while I searched the home at 10 pm to ensure there wasnât anyone in there.
From there the problems just multiplied:
*NO AIR CONDITIONING UPSTAIRS- The coolest temp upstairs was 83. We called maintenance multiple times & were told it was bc of a âkinda dirty filter,â & tall ceilings, but told it would get cooler. It didnât. It got to be 86 & we had 1 of our kids faint TWICE from the heat bf they agreed to send an HVAC worker who told us heâd been called out 1 year before for the same problem & told mgmt the unit was bad, but the owners said it was too expensive to fix & didnât want to invest the $. It wasnât until our last night (7/8) that we were given an option to move.
*UNUSABLE/OLD HOT TUB- the hot tub initially wouldnât get hot so the maintenance man took out the filter saying it was bad & said heâd bring a new one in 2 days. The water turned brown & despite multiple calls to check in & ask about the filter, it was never brought. We were told to keep âadding chlorineâ despite it not disintegrating. It looked like swamp water.
*UNCLEAN-The house was disgusting & our feet were completely black after 1 day. We had to hire our own cleaners it was so gross.
*BROKEN APPLIANCES/AMENITIES-including 1 of the ovens, shuffleboard, various pans
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ALL OF THE ISSUES!
This house was beautiful and had everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable. The adults & kids had a blast, and we even got a visit from a sweet Labrador named Buddy who lives in the neighborhood. Amazing time with family & friends for our spring break.
Our family is from DFW, who were taking a 1 st break this pandemic. The Cabin and its location were good, but the entire experience during the stay had a racist tone to it thanks to Creative Escapes LLC and their maintenance . We had a work commitment during the stay and had explicitly checked on the WiFi prior to arrival, as it had been mentioned on previous reviews on VRBO that it was an issue, upon checking was told YES. On arrival and throughout trip NO WiFi, we had to go find a cafe to work. The maintenance said will come day after and then blamed the Oklahoma state and then finally told âwell we donât guarantee WiFiâ- different from whatâs advertised on website and communications. We had issues with the property lights and not knowing what was included with the cabin, and for each when we reached out to the property management company they were condescending, claiming since they own 200 properties we donât know where what is in each houseâ. then the refrigerator water stopped working- as much as I didnât want to call them, had to ... response was - âwhat now with the lodge?â... this ticked me off completely- had 4 kids and 2 elderly parents.. I had called him out and then he proceeds to say- parts are in back order and excuses, says heâs âonlyâ the maintenance guy for creative escapes LLC. Final straw was the part where it was racist as it gets..., we were packed up to leave and getting in car - when the a guy comes racing down the driveway, jumps out of his pickup claps real loud and yells âget out, get the F out of hereâ!!!!!, andale, andaleâ and started walking towards angrily.
Everybody was soo shaken since we had the kids and our older parents in the car and any which way we could have gone this would have only gone worse. We are looking into what actions we should be taking against this person/company as they have just not been rude but swore to us and for what!? I want to make it clear we were delayed in our check out - 11:30 instead of the 11:00, thanks to having to drive out to Broken Bow to complete work, we were all loaded and getting ready to leave when this happened.
If youâre traveling with kids, older people I WOULD caution against using Creative Escapes LLC properties. There are plenty of other options in the area and I plan to use someone else for next time. While I understand there is some amount of issues anticipated with VRBO stays, this by far has been a very disturbing stay to say the least. Extremely rude, racist.
We LOVED the home itself and the location! The house had everything that you might need except decent internet connection. We needed to do some work and complete various school registration items and it was unbelievably difficult to the point where it just didn't work at all at times. Tried various places inside the home and ultimately went outside and used slow cellular data. So expect to be all but "off the grid" when there. The TVs didn't allow us to connect to any of the services either due to lack of internet connection. The hot tub didn't work well either. Bummer at the end of the day when you just wanted to relax. Maintenance came out twice but couldn't get it to work very well. Luke warm and cloudy. Other than that, it's really nice, well decorated, and beds and linens were very comfortable.
