BROWNSTOWN LODGE - Fishing Lodge & Country House with lake view and secluded location

BROWNSTOWN LODGE is a private fishing lodge & country house on the shores of the world famous brown trout and pike Lough Carra in County Mayo, Ireland. The lodge has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower and bath, a large living room with open kitchen, induction hob and open fireplace. Satellite TV, sound bar, W-Lan, washing machine and dryer are further features, as well as the possibility of renting an on-site motor boat, fishing and fly fishing rods as well as an echosounder for a fee.

The secluded location of the lodge in this peaceful, idyllic Irish countryside, with no noise and views across the crystal clear Lough Carra, is probably unique to those seeking relaxation. A piece of "Robinson Crusoe" feeling with the amenities of a high-class home.

SURROUNDINGS: In a few minutes drive you reach the town of Ballinrobe, which with its Irish charm and the nice pubs, the quaint shops and a huge supermarket is the ideal starting point for shopping and evening activities.

FISHING: Lough Carra is one of Ireland's best-known limestone lakes, known for its Lough-style fishing and good pike and perch. Furthermore, you can also reach in just a few minutes the great lakes of the Irish West: Lough Mask and Lough Corrib, which probably no fisherman should be a foreign word. Here daily motorboats and rowing boats can be rented. Compared to our "Homemater" the Lough Carra, these lakes are very rocky and should not be used in storm and wind. The lodge is just 35 minutes' drive from Ireland's most famous salmon river, River Moy.

EXCURSIONS: In addition to ideal fishing, Brownstown Lodge is an ideal base for day trips to Galway, Ashford Castle, Ballina, the Wild Atlantic Way, Connemara, the white West Coast beaches or the beautiful County Donegal. Golfing is also possible in the immediate vicinity of the lodge - as is the town Ballinrobe known for its horse races.

HOW TO GET THERE: Brownstown Lodge Dublin is about 2.5 - 3 hours and mostly runs to Galway via the extremely well-developed highway. It could also be served by Knock Airport which is only 52 km away and 45 minutes drive from the lodge.

Wonderful
We absolutely loved Brownstone Lodge. Perfect location near Lough Carra in County Mayo. We were able to do some fishing when the weather allowed. The remoteness of the location was amazing, so quiet and so peaceful. And the lodge was well stocked, clean and spacious. We enjoyed the company of our caretakers and they made sure that we had everything that we needed. We had a lovely time and we cannot wait to come back!

A Piece of Irish Heaven
Brownstown Lodge is a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty and freshness of the Irish countryside. It is a short drive from the nearest town where you can get groceries and great food. We used the Lodge for our base camp from where we explored the beauty of north County Mayo. A great location for peace and relaxation. We felt at home at the Lodge. All the amenities that you need are supplied. Beautiful sunsets over Lough Carra. We plan to visit again.

Perfect Home I’m the Mayo Countryside
My Mom, myself and my 4 children rented Brownstown Lodge for 4 weeks. We saw so much of County Mayo, Galway and some of Co. Clare and Brownstown was the perfect base to explore the west of Ireland. The house was perfect Lough Carra’s crystal waters were a short walk away. A lovely house with a conscientious owner. Perfect stay.

Quiet...secluded....perfect.
The lodge is wonderful. It is located in a quiet, secluded location near the lake and not far from Ballinrobe. Great place to relax and use as a base to explore the West. Property is well maintained and contains every convenience. Thomas is the perfect host. He was very responsive in communicating and provided all the information we needed for our stay.

Fantastic house brilliant location home from home. Would definitely recommend 👍
Had a brilliant time here. Lovely house. Very well equipped. The only small thing is no outdoor furniture. Having said that the weather was brilliant- sitting outside in Ireland is not usually the norm. Otherwise cannot fault this property and would highly recommend.

Fantastic spot in Mayo
Spent 2 weeks at the cottage. Situated in wonderful position with view of lake and fields but close enough to Ballinrobe if needed. Within easy driving distance there are many great sights and places of interest. Everything you need to just move in is provided. More like home than a holiday rental property. The caretakers were very kind and considerate. The owner contactable and most obliging. Were reluctant to leave and would love to return.
