Recommended 100% - Just book it.

Had a fantastic 2 night stay. Staff were super helpful, friendly, just all round brilliant. The hotel was clean, the room (202) was large with comfy beds, lovely decor throughout. The food was to die for. We had steak which melted in the mouth cooked to perfection. The menu to suit all tastes including vegetarian and vegan. The spa facilities were amazing. Heated pools indoor and outdoor. Steam rooms, saunas and salt room. Massage, facials etc available. We were just so chilled after our stay. Special mention to Amy our waitress. She was fabulous. Told us about the history of the building and Buxton. Laura, Hannah, Vicky in housekeeping, but everyone was so lovely. Would I recommend 100% - we would all go back in a heartbeat.

3rd visit and decided to try the cheaper rooms as don't spend much time in the room anyway as using the spa and enjoying Buxton. The room was very small and the cleaning was good but not previous excellent standard. TV screen was small and the guides and text impossible to read from the bed.. There was no accessible socket for the kettle so had to use the (very dusty) luggage rack and tea tray as a makeshift table next next to the socket. Spa was great, but busier than previous stays. Breakfast was excellent and service attentive and friendly. Buffet plus hot main, delivered very quickly. The rest of the hotel was up to usual great standard but disappointing that a cheaoer room would be such a let down.

Nice stay but not perfect

Nice hotel but a few irritations during our stay. Creaky floorboards in the room above woke us up at 6am - not ideal for a relaxing spa break overnight stay. Late night noise from the pubs that back on to the hotel. Room chrome cast wouldn’t work. Room services charges are extortionate - £10 charge to bring food up to the room is unnecessary and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Room was clean, bed very comfy, spa facilities done really nicely. Staff all friendly. Just the above mentioned nuisances that would probably put us off staying again.

Not a 5* star hotel

Unfortunately, our experience began poorly with an extremely unhelpful receptionist at check-in. The hotel's layout made it quite difficult to find our room, and when we returned to reception for assistance, we were simply pointed in the general direction without any real help. After wandering around for some time, we were fortunate to come across a maid who was cleaning nearby — she was very kind and personally showed us to our room. Our room was located on the third floor, but confusingly, the lift had no button for a third floor. No one at reception explained this to us. Similarly, we were not informed that we needed to change into robes in our rooms before accessing the spa. As a result, we arrived at the spa fully dressed and were sent all the way back to change. The staff at the spa were extremely apologetic for the lack of communication. Another important note: there is no parking available at the hotel. I travel frequently and can confidently say that this is not a five-star hotel by any standard. The bathroom amenities were extremely basic — just a small bar of soap and fixed wall dispensers for toiletries. In a true five-star hotel, you would usually expect extras like makeup remover wipes, sewing kits, grooming kits, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Here, there was none of that. Although there was a bathtub, we couldn't make use of it as there were no bath lotions provided. The bathroom was also noticeably dirty in
