This was not the best choice.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
Several things made this a less than pleasant stay. The housekeeping was poor. Neither the free coffee in the room or the shampoos were replaced. the coffee urn was not cleaned. The garbage was not emptied. As well the TV would not work properly on some of the channels.

Cheap and convenient

Pros: Close restaurants, comfortable bed
Cons: no fridge in the room
Pros: decent room; quiet despite a busy location; comfortable bed. The hotel is easily accessible and conveniently located. Cons: we did not have a fridge in our room. Overall: nothing extraordinary, but provides customers with a fairly comfortable night stay. I would definitely stay there again.

Shower had good pressures carpets were filthy walls had many dents on partial repairs. Air conditioner blew mostly warm air when on cool. Windows had no screens so didn't want to open to get some fresh air. Shower curtain wouldn't close properly because rod was bent. Hallway could have had more light and whole place smelled musty. Would I ever stay there again. Never. Would I recommend it to anyone else. No. Front desk Staff was very nice and polite.

Just Don't...pay a couple extra bucks and stay elsewhere

The only positive was being able to park directly out front of our room. The room wasn't clean. We stayed for 2 nights, and on the second night, there was water leaking through the ceiling from someone's bathroom above us. We could hear the shower running, and it was leaking through the ceiling in the middle of our room, not near the doorway out. You could see that water had leaked there before as there were water marks on the ceiling. I went down to the front desk - had to actually go because no one answered the phone - and the clerk told me it was raining and so the leaking was coming from the deck above, not from the bathroom. I don't know if he just thought I looked gullible or something, but the leak was about 10 feet in from where the deck is. They refused to move us, did not offer any compensation, nothing. And trust me, there was a LOT of water, which stopped leaking when the shower turned off, regardless of the fact it was still raining. I will never stay there again, and encourage you to not stay there either. The rooms are awful and the service is worse.

Never, EVER again!

Ended up here after Days Inn messed up our reservation with them - SHOULD have payed the extra $$ for the room there instead! The room smelt of stale smoke & mold, there was someone else's HAIR in the shower and there was mold in the bathroom corners along with water stained/damaged roofs. The ""in room safe"" was missing it's key - after informing mgmt about that, they suggested I must have misplaced it because there was no way it was their fault. Window locks don't work either on ground floor rooms. The beds are rock hard... I sleep on a firm mattress at home & woke up with a backache & numb arms here. The sheets were at least clean, though they weren't changed once during our stay. UGH The pool was ice cold, the hot tub was lukewarm & had no working jets. Mgmt only handed out pool towels if you asked. Don't bother with breakfast. The room the hold it in is smaller than a normal bedroom & has 3 tables & a counter squished in it (leaving very little room to do anything, let alone sit & eat). No fresh fruit, stale muffins & rancid waffle batter. At least the milk was fresh & the juice drinkable. We went to 2nd Cup for coffee & muffins instead. The final straw was the group of 20something males hanging out in the parking lot drinking beer, yelling & thumping tunes on their car stereos in plain view of the front desk at 2am. I had to walk my puppy past them to get to the small bit of grass in front of the hotel (that was covered with garbage) & was harrassed both times. Mgmt did nothing when told - I called the police myself. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

DISGUSTING! not worth the $$$

On the 30th of August, 2008 my family and I were visiting Calgary for the afternoon and evening. We had decided to stay at the Ramada? in northwest Calgary. What we found out not long after checking in is that we had made a huge mistake. The condition of the room was appalling to say the least. There was a very strong odour that was present the moment you walked in the room. It was the smell of dust, cigarette smoke(even though it was a non smoking room), and possibly mold mixed with several undetermined noxious vapours. Upon further inspection we noticed that the pillow cases were dirty and had burn marks on them. The air condition unit was missing its front panel, so there were exposed wires and pipes protruding. The mattresses were not in very good shape, they sagged in the middle and again had an unpleasant odour. There were many problems too numerous to mention. To make matters worse when we tried to get our money back, after spending a few minutes in the actual room, we were told that we couldn?t because it had been 2 hours since we ?checked in.? The manager on duty that night was very uncooperative. He had initially tried to tell my wife that we couldn?t get our money back or our deposit. It wasn?t until I had negotiated with him for half an hour did he decide to have a look in the room and noticed that nothing in the room had been touched by us. Needless to say this traveller will not be staying at that particular Ramada?, and pending the outcome of my complaint with the company, may not be staying at any Ramada? hotel.

Horrific

We have lived overseas since 1986 and have stayed at some very basic accommodation, yet never have we had anywhere an experience like we did in Calgary. Stampede Week, it seemed the entire city was booked. We felt lucky finding the Ramada Inn in Motel Village- in the suburbs, pool, only about $120/night. After the first night I thought the reason I was itching was the housekeepers must have left the windows open the day before, allowing mosquitoes to enter, though I found none. The third day I noticed an insect the size of a small ladybug crawling on the sheets, full of blood. Never seen anything like it. I then noticed here and there on the sheets what had to have been old blood stains in small drip patterns, now more or less washed out, indicating a long-term infestation. I was able to catch several more bedbugs, in full view of the motel manager. I had insisted Mr. Charn come to the room to see, and he then got permission to 'comp' our stay. But it was already too late for me. That second night, the bedbugs had swarmed me. I estimated I had easily hundreds of bites that itched with a fireceness I can't hope anyone to understand. I bought oral & topical antihistimines, but they didn't help much. I wrote a letter to the Calgary Health Region as well as to Ramada HQ, to follow-up eradication measures the motel manager told me he would take. I asked Ramada HQ to write me back and detail to me their next steps. They responded only by saying their obligation to us was fulfilled at the time they'd 'comped' our stay! With no accountability, you the traveller take your chances with extreme grief at this motel!
