The ancient town of Camelford makes an ideal touring center, being only a few miles from the surfing beaches of North Cornwall and the natural beauty and ancient sites of Bodmin Moor.
The town, historically a vital crossing point on the River Camel, was formerly an important market town due to its position on the main route into Cornwall. The patronage of local MPs is reflected in some of the fine old buildings that line the main street.
The public park with children's play area is right on your doorstep. There is a long walk alongside the river which is a great place to enjoy some homemade pasties from the local bakery.
The town is often reputed to be the location for heroic King Arthur’s Court of Camelot although the name Camel is more likely a corruption from old Cornish meaning winding. However, legend has it that King Arthur met his death at the hands of his nephew Mordred in a battle fought at the nearby village of Slaughterbridge where today you can find ‘Arthur’s Tomb’ marked by an inscribed stone that dates back 1,500 years.

Lovely little property with everything you need. Camelford is an excellent town with some good eateries. The Nepalese and the Fish & Chip shop worth a try.Great base for visiting beaches and other attractions. St Nectan's Glen is well worth a visit, Trebarwith for the sunset and Daymer Bay beach is a lovely beach that does not get too crowded.

Disliked: Cleanliness
The interior was functional, linen and towels excellent, bed comfortable, however, the place needed a deep clean, dust and dirt evident in many places and shower trap not nice. The pictures show a bath and there is a bath icon on the listing but no bath. There were two dehumidifiers there in two of the rooms running when we arrived, these filled up over about 12 hours and I emptied them several times. No mention of this in the listing. The outside mat and outside area were scruffy and the outside table and chairs were not, in my opinion, clean enough to use, the picture of them was obviously taken years ago. We liked the area and the short distances from many interesting places including the coast. nice park opposite too.

Well maintained and looked after
Propert was lovely and well maintained. Instructions for heating needed to be a bit clearer as even in July as property was stone it was cool and needed a temperature boost. The village itself was a bit run down but was a suitable location for our requirements
