The hotel building is beautiful inside and out, with historic charm and tasteful decoration. The room was a good size. However, sound insulation was extremely poor. Noise from adjacent rooms, the corridor, upstairs, and downstairs was clearly audible. The floors squeaked heavily, and even placing cushions under the door did not help. Guests with children and a dog arrived next door late at night, making it difficult to sleep. The room had a low ceiling, small windows that barely opened, no air conditioning, and was very hot. A fan was provided in another room I was offered, but it was closer to loud kitchen ventilation pipes, which continued running past 11 p.m. I had a very poor night’s sleep. At check-in, I was told a vegan English breakfast would be available, but only bread and baked beans were offered. Also, the hotel is under refurbishment, which was only mentioned after booking. Due to the noise, lack of ventilation, and misleading information, I would not stay here again.

City centre hotel

The room was ok, aware hotel being refurbished- there was a odour in the corridors ? From kitchens or building works. Due to the people and creaking floors from the room above meant I had a disturbed night Staff were friendly and walking access to the city centre and hospital was great. Free parking a great benefit

Nice old hotel with modern skin

A very cool old hotel that has been around since the early 1800s (I guess it operated as a hospital during WW2 which I found very cool). It was crazy hot and it has no AC but staff was accommodating and made it as nice as possible. It’s a short walk to Canterbury castle, and it’s a nice stroll through the neighborhood. We would stay here again.

One side of the property is very dates, we had a family room basically in the loft with no AC or fridge, it was 40 degrees in our room and we could barely sleep. Next night we changed rooms to a newly renovated room and it was way nicer and more modern. Staff were friendly and helpful and understood our concern and we had no problem switching rooms. Nice new bar area and a place outside to enjoy a beverage

Scaffoldings obstructing the views

The hotel is refurbishing so there are scaffoldings near the windows of many rooms - I saw many guests complaining about this as well. This was not explicitly said before booking, so because of that, I am giving it 3 stars. It was quite clean though, and very close to the town centre.

It was good great customer service considering hotels.com had not ot paid for my hotel wet I paid ... But when hotel were great about it and sorted it with hotels.com and allowed me to check in as I was rushing to get ready for my pageant.
