10/10 Excellent

Exceptional house in lovely order in slightly secondary location.
The house is in lovely condition with big rooms and in great order. The pool isn't heated but this shouldn't be an issue in the Mauritian Summer, it was a little chilly in the UK summer when we visited. The North of the island is less commercialised than other areas and Cap Mal has some lovely beaches with spectacular sunsets. A car is a must, the house is in a somewhat remote spot on a development of 10 in total with not much else around- the adjacent road is somewhat busy and there is no pavement so walking isn't a viable option. Grand Bay is 10 minutes in the car and there is good food shopping and beach activities can be arranged there- go to the Super U, not the Intermarche which is more expensive and has less fresh produce.
There is fairly slow wifi in the house but take a Chromecast or Amazon firestick and you can get reasonable quality streaming on the big screen TV. The bedrooms are all a good size and have air con, the bathrooms are also good but the hot water can't be used by more than 1 shower at a time without a reasonable loss of pressure. The garden is well laid out and even if raining you can sit out and relax in either a covered area by the house with comfy furniture or the seating area at the end of the garden. Its all quite private and there is an electric fence around the whole development for added security. If out in the daytime there is a single button which closes all the electric shutters and there is a small safe too.
The maid service was excellent when we visited, leave currency as a tip at the end of your break.
All in all a lovely spacious house in great order and with a lovely garden/pool area but its a little out on a limb- Google Street view doesn't yet have the island mapped out and when it does you'll get a clearer picture of the location.
