It was quiet, well set up… short (1km) walk to the town centre through a nice neighbourhood. The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and helpful.

Where did the glowing reviews come from?

Our stay at Gable Manor was very disappointing. We received no check-in instructions (despite being promised 24 hours before arrival) and arrived to find the property locked, deserted, and unreachable by any contact number or emergency line. After nearly three hours waiting outside, a neighbour helped us reach someone to let us in. We were never formally checked in, the Wi-Fi didn’t work, and the in-room safe had no key. The gate fob failed, and the aircon was set to heat at 26°C. Breakfast was poor — mouldy fruit, limited options, dirty tables, and most food unavailable by the second day. The property was misrepresented, poorly maintained, and unhygienic. Not up to Hotels.com standards — we’ve requested a refund and cannot recommend this stay.

What a lovely place. We throughly enjoyed our stay - ideal location for getting the tram to a number of favourite vineyards. Everywhere in town is walking distance - perfect for leaving your car and enjoy the wines. An extra mention of praise is the staff, my fiancée left her glasses behind and they made the effort to return them safely by post.

Gable Manor Franschhoek

On arrival we were advised that there would be Eskom load shedding for 2hrs from 20:00, which is nothing unusual in SA. Most unusual was to discover that no provision had been made for the convenience of guests - lamps, torches or emergency generator supplies. Fortunately we had our own torches. This was the only negative occurrence, the proprty was spotlessly clean, breakfast appetising, staff helpful and the pool and garden inviting.

Friendly stay in Franschhoek

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only gripe was that we were expecting a balcony room but instead had a rather dark room on the ground floor, not aided by load shedding at various points in the day. Breakfast was delicious, and bed was very comfy, would stay there again.

Great stay

Amazing service. A peaceful little guest house with nice facilities only a 5 minute walk from the main street. The breakfast was also really nice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Franschhoek.

Individual hotel

Good position, overlooking rocks, would be great position in whale spotting season. Close to town centre (10 minute stroll) but quiet. Amazing view from 1st floor restaurant, although food is limited choice and quite plain - but pleasant enough. Room wasn't seaview (ground floor tucked in corner) but perfectly pleasant overlooking edge of garden. Rather baroque interior of main rooms (especially hallway) - not necessarily to everyone's taste - but at least not featureless chain hotel! Pool small but functional.

Fabulous Gable Manor

My husband and I were thrilled with Gable Manor. First of all it is beautiful. The setting is wonderful. The staff was incredible; they helped us plan each day, and their advice was invaluable to us. The breakfast was absolutely the best, with homemade jam and croissants fresh from the oven. They also had fresh fruit, eggs, bacon , etc. etc. All this served in a lovely poolside dining room. We would definitely stay there again and again.
