----------------
Cherrueix is a tourist town of 1160 inhabitants located in the heart of the mythical bay of Mont Saint Michel, Brittany region and capital of sand yachting!
Near Saint Malo, Dol de Bretagne, Cancale / Pointe du Grouin and Mont Saint-Michel and Tombelaine, dam Rance / Dinard, Mont Dol and its panoramic view of the Bay of Cancale in Granville and its famous rocks, Cherrueix stretches along the dike of the Duchess Anne
From the seaside you can see on a clear day from left to right Cancale, the Chausey Islands, Granville and finally Mont Saint-Michel.
The town has three buildings listed as historical monuments:
the mill of La Saline, the mill of Colimassière, the mill Mondrins.
These three windmills of the nineteenth century were registered by decree of 7 September 1977.
They illustrate the important cereal activity of the Dol marsh. Over the entire territory of the municipality, there were up to 11 mills in operation. No mill is currently active.

The town has all the necessary shops: a bakery, a butcher, a grocery store, a tobacco-restaurant bar, a hairdresser, a wellness institute, a physiotherapist, two restaurants, a car garage, not to mention the sale of products such as goose foie gras, mussels, vegetables etc.

The three main economic activities of Cherrueix are mussel farming, agriculture and tourism.

The port of Vivier-Cherrueix is the first mussel port in France. The mussel mussel of Mont Saint-Michel Bay represents 1/6 of the national production. It is the only product of the sea to have managed to win the enviable Denomination of Controlled Origin (AOC).
There is now the House of Local Products and Gastronomy.

Agriculture is a very old activity in the commune of Cherrueix, whether it be livestock farming, cereal production or vegetable production. However, breeding has gradually disappeared in the last 30 years for the benefit of production. cereal and especially market gardening. The main production of the municipality is garlic.

In summer, tourist activity strongly supports the economy of the town. Cherrueix is easily accessible by the A84 motorway (E03) and now by the TGV to two hours from Paris in 2017, the town has two campsites, many cottages and bed and breakfasts that welcome summer visitors.

The White Marsh: The land of the white marsh formed by marine alluvium, the pitch, is light gray in color. This sandy soil makes it possible to cultivate cereals, fodder plants and vegetables (garlic, onion, shallot, carrot, asparagus ...).
Moulin de la Saline in Cherrueix. Facing the beach and the sea, along the dike you can see three windmills of the 19th century. The mill of Saline (1827) property of the town, has benefited from a restoration of the wings and the roof-frame. You will find there the house of the products of the soil and the gastronomy which proposes an interactive exhibition to the discovery of the local products as well as a shop.

The Strike: The strikes that extend as far as the eye can see in the bay are the ideal places for the practice of sand yachting

The marine train will take you to the bay of Mont Saint-Michel in the fisheries .....
...... Marine train side: to be done imperatively! The start is 150m from the cottage, remember to book. ....... https: // www. tripadvisor. en / Attraction_Review-g1899366-d3620683-Reviews-Train_Marin-Cherrueix_Dol_de_Bretagne_Ille_et_Vilaine_Brittany. html

Discover fishing with feet feet at the dranet and the pin. The last Breton manufacturer of dranets lives next door ....
..... And our neighbors are charming (the two cottages that surround the small house), one of them, Mr Bazin is the last manufacturer of dranets https: // www. West France. en / brittany / saint-malo-35400 / manufacturer-the-last-of-dranets-de-la-region-855637

The choronym invented by the Malouin Eugène Herpin in 1890 is classified under the tourist and descriptive label of Côte d'Emeraude. Due to the emerald green color of the sea at times, the part of the north-eastern coast of Brittany between Cancale (east) and Cape Fréhel (west). This coast, straddling the Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes-d'Armor, includes Saint-Malo, the estuary of Rance and Dinard.

Grocery and local products, butcher, bakery, sea view restaurants or not and on foot! about: Lamb meat from salt meadows is a French sheep farm product. The peculiarity of this meat is to be obtained by the grassland exploitation of salt meadows thanks to the pastoral conduct of herds of sheep. The halophytic vegetation that makes up these pastures transmits to the flesh of the lamb an original flavor
• Mont-Saint-Michel salt marshes: appellation of origin of Mont-Saint-Michel protected by a PDO designating a carcass of butcher's lamb

In the program :
fishing on foot, chairlifts, GR hiking trails, beautiful bike rides, summer markets, mills, salt-water sheep, bouchots, marine train excursion, tractor-or-fishing excursion for fishing on foot during high tides, everything is there ...
whose greenway:
This path runs along the Bay between Cherrueix and a hamlet bordering the Moidrey cove, 4 km south of Mont Saint-Michel. The course is a little behind the sea, on an old dike, in the middle of the polders. The greenway winds between two rows of poplars. A good part of the route we see the famous Mont Saint-Michel.
Possible activities on the greenway: Running, Horse riding, Walking, Bike all way VTC, Mountain bike

Sports

Yachting:
The sand yachting is practiced on the seven kilometers of beach of the town for more than forty years. The town has already hosted the European Championship (18-23 August 1969) and the championship of France and hosted from 8 to 15 July 2012 the World Championships in sand sailing organized in Cherrueix. candidate for the organization of the European Championships.
Jogging (running) is practiced most often on the dike, along the sea, mills to the chapel of St. Anne.
Cycling and cycling, 20 km to Mont Saint-Michel and its new dam on the Couesnon, through the polders without crossing a car.
On the side of the chapel Sainte-Anne is an equestrian center.
------------------------.
Cherrueix is a relaxing village, ideal for hiking and Nordic walking over km of beach or dike. For lovers of sensations, sand yachting is a Cherroul specialty taught by champions and can be practiced at any age.

Lovers of fishing on foot can learn the dranet, a kind of big dip net that scrapes the bottom, and the pin, small size net that is used to harvest crustaceans; of course at low tide. You can also visit the breeding parks of mussel mussels (piles on which they are rolled) now recognized by an AOC and that can be enjoyed from June to January and the succulent flat and hollow oysters that can be eaten all the year (milky or not depending on tastes). With the little yellow train, you can also visit the wooden fisheries that have existed in Cherrueix since the twelfth century, a kind of trap that can catch fish and crustaceans at rising tide.

There are many other discoveries to be made for nature lovers and ancient times such as windmills of the 18th, the bench of Hermelles, coral reef unique in Europe that one discovers during the high tides.

The village is ideally located respectively 30 minutes from St Malo, Mont St Michel, Dinan, Dinard.

The colors of the sea and the sky, always changing, with against the backdrop of the superb Mont Saint Michel placed on the water as ... a cherry on a cake, are a feast for the eyes and watercolor lovers .

If you think that everyone in Brittany waxes yellow in the summer, as you say it is a misconception completely false. Well, let's be honest it is sometimes the case ... but most often it is very beautiful!
What better way to enjoy the 110 kilometers of coastline of Upper Brittany, from the clear waters of the Emerald Coast to the vast expanses of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. While you are fond of sandcastles, sporting afternoons or reading fan-feet,

have a good stay
