Farthings is situated just half a mile from West Wittering beach, a beautiful stretch of sand and dunes offering stunning views and great water for swimming, wind and kite surfing. The village has a local shop and a deli, plus small supermarkets, pubs/bars, restaurants, takeaways and surf/watersports shops at East Wittering. Larger supermarkets are available in Chichester and Selsey a short drive away and there are some great restaurants also nearby.
Nearby sights, attractions and day trips include Chichester, the Festival Theatre, Chichester Harbour, the South Downs and Goodwood Estate.

- Pets: A maximum of 1 small, well-behaved dog is allowed at a cost of GBP30 per week or part week. Larger dogs strictly on request. Dogs must not go on furniture or upstairs. An outside tap is available for washing them off if required. Dogs must be declared in advance of arrival. If the charge is not taken by this platform we will contact you after booking to arrange.
- BBQs/Firepits: apologies but strictly not allowed anywhere due to thatched roof.
- Farthings accommodates up to 6 adults, and 9 guests in total including children. Farthings is a family-focussed property and is not suitable for parties. Stag, hen and other party groups are not permitted, and will be refused entry with no course for refund. There is some limited allocation for responsible groups of up to 6 friends with prior written agreement, please do check with us as we may be able to accommodate. Strictly no filming, parties, day guests or wedding groups without our written agreement prior to booking. If you have any doubts as to the suitability of the house for your stay, please do contact us and we will be happy to advise.
- Search online and contact us direct for stays over 28 nights (we cannot administrate these via this platform).
- A security deposit of GBP350 is a condition of booking, if not taken by this platform we will contact you after booking to arrange.
- Once you have placed your booking request, before we can process your booking we will require some simple additional information such as postal address, direct email and guest details. Please do not book if you are unable to provide this, as we cannot offer a refund on this basis.
- Arrival and departure times are clearly stated. As our properties can be booked right up until the last minute, we are unable to confirm early check-in or late check-out requests until 24-72 hours prior to your arrival/departure. Should you prefer to guarantee any such request now, please add an additional night to the start and/or end of your booking.
- Top tip: Adding another night or two may only cost a little extra, or sometimes nothing at all! This is a great way to add some flexibility to your stay (please let us know if you plan to arrive the day after your start date).
- Kitchen facilities: double electric range cooker with 2 ovens (1 with grill) and 6 electric hobs, tall fridge-freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine.
- Utility room: washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, clothes airer and iron/ironing board.
- Swimming pool: open to guests and heated from 01 May to 30 September. Open times: 7am to 9pm every day. It is closed for maintenance on Mondays and Thursdays 8-11am (may be longer if the chemical treatment requires it). Dimensions approx: 8.5m x 3m, depth 1m-1.7m (strictly no diving or jumping in). For summer bookings only, the target temperature (not guaranteed) is 26-28C (min. 24C) approx. The water may be cooler in lower seasons. Please replace the pool cover after every use (this is not a safety cover and does not support the weight of people or animals). The pool area is enclosed by thick hedges, close-railed fences and a gate (padlock provided on advance request). However please always supervise children when they are outside.
- For security this property has external CCTV installed. For your privacy, the cameras will be switched off for the duration of your stay. There is no internal CCTV.
