Lumiere - West Wittering

The heart of the home is the bright, open-plan kitchen and living space, where white-washed wood and French furniture create a chic, welcoming atmosphere. A large dining table makes mealtimes a pleasure, while the living area with log burner is perfect for Winter evenings. Doors open directly onto the south-facing garden with plenty of furniture, plus a wonderful Summer House, perfect for sunny days and al-fresco evening drinks.

The kitchen is fully equipped for relaxed holiday cooking, featuring a large central island, an Aga, gas ring burner, dishwasher, coffee pod machine, SMEG fridge/freezer and appliances, and plenty of workspace. A separate utility room adds extra convenience with a washing machine, additional fridge, tabletop oven, microwave and a wide range of cooking equipment.

Upstairs, the master bedroom is a true retreat with a king sized antique French bed and doors opening onto a Juliette balcony. This room includes a freestanding rolltop bath for long, indulgent soaks, along with a separate shower room with w/c. There is also a desk - ideal if you need to work while away.

On the ground floor, two further bedrooms provide flexible accommodation: one king-size bedroom and one further bedroom that can be arranged as either a twin or super king. A dedicated children’s Snug TV room offers a cosy space for younger guests to unwind, while a stylish family bathroom with shower over bath serves the ground floor.

The driveway provides parking for three small vehicles. Ideally located, the property is just a three minute walk to the beach, shops, cafés and amenities of East Wittering village, making it an ideal base for a coastal holiday all year round. One well behaved dog is welcome.

A beautiful garden and the house has the potential of being absolutely fabulous. Sadly, the basic maintenance let it down for us (broken blinds, no bulb in the light on the desk in the bedroom nor in one of the bedrooms, the BBQ was completely rusty and in our opinion unusable).Overall, a great location, near to many amenities and the beach.

The property was loved very much by our two small dogs. The garden was perfect and not overlooked and, of course, dog friendly. We could easily walk to West Wittering along the beach. There were many dog friendly pubs on the doorstep. We shall definitely book this property again and hope the next time we don’t manage to lock ourselves out!!

Our stay was unfortunately impacted by a number of maintenance and comfort issues that should be addressed.Kitchen appliances:The main fridge was extremely old and in poor condition. The shelf were broken, the door did not close properly, and there was no internal light. As a result, food spoiled quickly, and we even lost a bottle of wine when it fell from a faulty shelf. A second fridge was also provided, but its door did not close securely either, and a note in the maintenance book suggested this was a known issue. Interestingly, the owner requested measurements for a replacement fridge the day before our departure, which indicates awareness of the problem.The toaster elements clearly need replacing, as it burnt toast consistently.The microwave interior was rusty, and it made an unusual, loud noise when operating, which was concerning.Bathroom:Both taps in the downstairs toilet did not work at all, leaving them unusable.Living spaces:The property is listed as sleeping seven, but the living room seating is very limited, accommodating at most four to five people. The “TV room” is actually set up as a bedroom with a TV, and would be better described as such. Adding a sofa bed or placing a large TV in the living room would create a more comfortable and practical setup for groups.Overall:The property needs some appliance upgrades and basic facility improvements, which would make the stay far more enjoyable for future guests.

Conveniently located just 2 minutes walk from the beach and 2 minutes walk from shops, cafes and restaurants. The beach is a long pebble beach where we were able to walk with our dog on the lead in August. There are several places to eat and a pub. Worth double checking opening times of some eating places as a lot seemed to be closed/closing by about 8:30pm. Lots of lovely places to visit within a hour. We had a walk from Chichester Harbour stopping at The Crown & Anchor for a drink, an afternoon in Chichester bumbling around the shops and cathedral grounds and an afternoon in Petworth. The house itself is a great size with a nice big kitchen and dining area and an enclosed garden with patio furniture for al fresco breakfasts! The main bedroom is massive and the bed was comfy. The house has off road parking for two big cars (I would estimate). We have a large 7 seater and there was lots of room. My only two slightly negative comments would be that the sofa in the TV room is actually a single bed so it wasn’t very comfortable for us to sit and watch tv as a family in the evening and the kitchen stuff (mugs, kettle, plates, bins, etc) seems to be divided across the kitchen and utility room so it was a bit of an odd set up for making drinks/meals. For example plates and fridge in the kitchen but toaster in the utility room. However, neither of these things was an issue for us for a 4 day stay and it was such a lovely house in a lovely location that we would definitely return.

This is our second stay and we had an equally relaxing time. Charlotte is an exceptional host, who goes out of her way to ensure everything is perfect for her guests. The beach is 2 minutes walk away, local shops 5 minutes. Charlotte has everything you need for fun at the beach eg chairs, windbreaks, toys etc.,Don’t hesitate about booking, you will have an amazing time.

A fabulous well loved character filled house . A few extras included like sun loungers and parasol , outdoor shower , nice towels , spacious bedrooms although a bigger bed in the master would be welcomed . Great location by Bracklesham beach , and west wittering village . Nice pubs and cafes all around . Chichester area is a good find . Very dog friendly everywhere

An excellent home from home!

We had a fabulous stay at this house - communication with the host was excellent and they went above and beyond to accommodate our requests & ensure we had everything we needed. The house itself is excellent - gorgeous decorations, for us the highlights were the beautiful south facing garden and the open plan living/cooking/dining space which opened onto it - excellent for families with children. The kitchen was really well equipped for preparing big family meals! Would highly recommend.
