The property is a partially attached former barn located within the boundaries of the main farmhouse, situated on a 600 acre farm bordering the Cotswolds. The property can sleep 5 people. Its setting is idyllic with lakes, farmland and many public walk ways. Enjoyed by both those who like a relaxing escape, or for the more adventurous who love exploring the rural countryside and nature. It`s located 3 miles from Chipping Norton, 6 miles from Soho Farmhouse and 9.5 miles from Blenheim Palace.
The Barn has been converted as a rustic rural escape for those looking for a relaxing getaway. With a large open plan reception room (including an oversize fireplace for the winter months) and shelves of books, its the perfect place to settle down for a good read or some family fun. The kitchen and dining areas are spacious and have all the facilities for long lunches and lazy evening suppers. Equally it also has high speed internet and lots of parking for both virtual and actual access.
The property has its own front door entrance, as well as a direct entrance onto the back garden which features a large fruit and vegetable patch for use by our guests.
Upstairs there is a spacious master suite with bedroom with King size bed, sitting room (with sofa bed) along with a bathroom and separate toilet, as well as significant storage. This bedroom space can therefore sleep 4 people when using the sofa bed.
The second bedroom has two single beds with its own ensuite shower room and views across the lake.
Access to The Barn is via the main estate driveway with plenty of private parking. As the Barn is located on a farm on the outskirts of the town, a car is necessary for getting around (though there are local taxi companies and the adventurous can walk via the public walkways and bridleways to Chipping Norton where buses are available to neighbouring villages including Enstone, Woodstock (Blenheim Palace) and Oxford).
Other famous Cotswold villages such as Stow-on-the-wold (12 miles), Burford (14 miles) and Bourton-on-the-Water (16 miles) are within easy driving distance as are Daylesford, Soho Farmhouse, Diddly Squat Farm Shop, Cotswolds Distillery, Hook Norton Brewery and the Burford Garden Centre to name a few.
The Spa town of Cheltenham is 32 miles and Silverstone is 23 miles.
Access by train is via Charlbury train station (6.6 miles) or Banbury train station (14.6 miles), the latter a 55-minute trip from London Marylebone.
The Barn is on a working farm and so close to the farmyard and a small business.

The Charford Barn in Charlbury was so cozy and a perfect place to stay in the Cotswolds. An easy taxi ride from the Charlbury train station. (Just book ahead for pick up. I highly recommend Charlbury taxi) The surrounding grounds are breath taking. The house has everything youâll need for a great get away.
To review this property is tricky. The trouble has been with the host being untruthful about the mattresses in the house - which ultimately cost us with an uncomfortable stay. Neither the host nor VRBO have been responsive in helping to resolve issues as they happened or after the event. We have had three lengthy calls with VRBO but they never resolve or call back.
Not sure what makes a super host as this host has been titled but I would be happy with a regular host if they responded when we requested help!! All bad sadly
This is a lovely property in a quiet location; convenient to most Cotswold attractions. It was easy to find. Our host was exceptionally responsive to our (many) questions and with resolving a small issue.
A couple of things to be aware of:
--there are a lot of steps inside and outside the property, many without any handrail. If you have any mobility challenges, these might be of concern.
--The washer/dryer was in a separate building.
--The twin bedroom did not have any place to hang clothing. There was a very nice console/desk, but that space could be put to better use with a small wardrobe.
-- The overall cleanliness was fine, but the cottage could use a deep clean from time to time. There were cobwebs in the rafters and corners, and the vent over the stove was sticky with grease.
All that being said, we enjoyed our stay!
