Tired, old and boring

The hotel location is fine, but anywhere in Christchurch city will be close to everything there. I stayed in a 'club room' which was very ordinary and in need of some improvement. Worst of all was the club lounge - terrible location and atmosphere, and a complete waste of money unless you're there only for the free evening drinks. The evening canapes were so ordinary and almost exactly the same every evening. The club floor breakfast was ridiculous - cereal, dried fruit, salami, cold ham and cold salmon. The rating of this hotel is way too high, and I would strongly recommend you look at cheaper, newer alternatives. So I had to pay another NZD$22 for a sensible breakfast in the main dining room, because unlike most decent hotel 'club floor rooms' this is not included as an option.

Great hotel in best location in a beautifull city in a fabolous and very friendly country ( albeit at the moment a little earthquke damaged but still tops )

Poor management and awful rooms.

This hotel received the highest rating in our guide book and it was listed as a 5 start hotel so we thought it was a safe bet. The room was outdated with older duvet covers and blankets you would only find in a cheap motel, furniture from at least 20 years ago, ripped carpet, much older television set, dirty grout in the bathroom, slow draining sink, chipped tub, beds on rollers, etc. We let managment know we were not satisfied with the quality of the room, but they made no offer to rectify the situation. The lobby is quite modern, but the rooms have not been upgraded. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of both the room and the management and would strongly encourage travelers to look elsewhere.

Location, location, location

While on the north end of the downtown Christchurch area, the location was still within very easy walking distance of all the stores and restaurants, in a park like setting. For the room rate this was a great property, although the food and drinks was a bit on the pricy side (even for NZ). Still if my goal was to spend some time close to the best Christchurch has to offer, I would be back here again. Only issue worth mentioning was that driving from the west, even with a Nav, it is a bit tricky to find your way to the front door.

I got all the time the feeling I was looked after Friendly, caring and competent staff and beautiful classy eating areas were the strongest points of the hotel.
