It provides an excellent base for walkers and mountain bikers (bike wash available), with miles of scenic walks and cycle routes. The Long Mynd rising above the west of the town is renowned for gliding, hang gliding and paragliding, and boasts the second highest golf course in England. Church Stretton has several lovely places to eat and drink, day or evening. There are several surrounding picturesque villages, and it’s just a 30 minute drive (or a short train ride) to larger towns, such as Shrewsbury and Ludlow, for shopping, eateries and entertainment.
