Murt’s Lodge is part of Red Canoe Lodge, one of the early resort properties on Lake Whitney dating back to the 1950s. What makes Murt’s especially unique is its story: while the structure was built decades ago, much of the interior was never completed. In 2026, we finally finished what was started more than half a century ago—creating a completely modern lodge while preserving the character and history of this special property.

Today, Murt’s Lodge combines the feel of an old Lake Whitney retreat with the comfort of a brand-new custom interior. The lodge sleeps up to 12 guests with 9 total beds, making it perfect for large families, fishing groups, reunions, retreats, or a weekend at the lake with friends.

Inside you’ll find beautiful custom quartz countertops, custom cabinetry, new finishes throughout, and custom tiled showers designed specifically for the lodge. With 1 master bedroom queen bed for 2, custom bathroom and walk in shower, two open concept sleeping areas that sleeps a total of 8 people with its full bath with custom walk in shower A sofa sleeper on the main floor that sleeps 2. So 9 total beds that can sleep 12 people. The entire interior was completed in 2026, giving guests modern comfort inside a property with more than 70 years of Lake Whitney history.

And you’re not just renting a house—you get to enjoy the atmosphere and amenities of Red Canoe Lodge.

Spend the afternoon in the swimming pool, relax in the hot tub, gather around the fire pits, cook dinner in one of our shared outdoor kitchens, fire up the grills, or spend some time in the game room. There’s plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy the property, plus Wi-Fi throughout the resort.

We’re located right next to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park Walling Bend at Lake Whitney, with the boat ramp approximately ¼ mile away, making Murt’s an especially convenient home base for boating and fishing trips.

Red Canoe Lodge isn’t meant to feel like another cookie-cutter vacation rental. We’re bringing one of Lake Whitney’s original resort properties back to life, one building at a time, while keeping the character that made people come to the lake generations ago.
