Fantastic Experience

My group of six friends had a really great time at Villa Makai, Santa Teresa location! Our plan for this vacation was to be active, eat healthy, have a lot of fun and have time for a relaxation as well. Seven nights was not a very long time for everything but still we were very happy and satisfied at the end of our stay. The villa was perfect for us, beautiful, very clean, very well equipped. Also, we could see and feel the nature so well through the glass and screen panels downstairs. We really enjoyed the pool and a beautiful dining area outdoors.We did practice yoga every morning as a group and there is a very nice platform for a meditation practice as well. Overall we had a great time, not only because of the place but also because of very nice people: the owner Martin, the wonderful concierge Josefina and other staff members. Everyone was super helpful and doing everything so our stay was as pleasant as possible. We had a great communication with the owner Martin and the concierge Josefina before our trip and during our stay at Costa Rica. Josefina was really wonderful! She did help us with grocery shopping, to book our trips, activities, restaurants reservations. She also found an excellent chef for our special “dine and celebrate life at Villa Makai” experience. By the way, we strongly recommend Chef Luis for a special occasions. The food was really delicious and chef Luis is very experienced and he is super nice and friendly person. We just loved the whole experience!

5 Stars!!

This is an amazing house in a great location. The house is clean, beautiful and just perfect in every way. The garden/landscaping around the house and pool are very beautiful and the sunsets from the house, garden, and pool are stunning. The property managers do an outstanding job taking care of everything to support you during your stay. The surf of Santa Teresa is only a few minutes away at the bottom of the mountain. I love this property and will be back!!!

A bit misleading, but overall excellent!

Casa Makai is a beautiful property with an incredible ocean/jungle view & very comfortable furnishings. The filtered water system was a treat, allowing us to fill our water bottles and drink directly from the tap, reducing unnecessary plastic waste. It is secured behind a private gate & monitored overnight by an on-sight security guard, (which didn't seem necessary as everyone in town was exceptionally kind and trustworthy). Josefina, the property manager, went above and beyond in every way imaginable for us - from meeting us there for our late evening arrival, to recommending and arranging ATV/dirt-bike rentals and tours. She felt like a friend by the end of our trip, and I hope to see her in the future as one. One thing in the listing that threw us for a loop however, was the description of having a Washer/Dryer on site. We intentionally booked this home for the last half of our trip, intending to do laundry there. Unfortunately, when we couldn't find the W/D, Josefina informed us that they provided laundry service - for the low price of $30 for the first load, and $20 for every load thereafter. This was even more frustrating once we found the W/D on site, behind a locked door attached to the garage... where we would have been more than happy to do our own laundry, but were required to pay for this "service" instead. Finally, although the open-air concept is nice, some standing fans for the downstairs would go a long way in keeping cool, as it doesn't have AC there.

Great location, beautiful view

The bedrooms were very comfortable and had air conditioning. The bottom floor has just screen doors and no AC. The dipping pool was perfect to cool Off after a hot day at the beach. The staff was great, very responsive and accommodating. Will definitely stay here again.

Very disappointing week. We reserved the property in July for a January stay. Reviews were great until end of the year, then the wheels fell off. Construction next door ruined 5 of 7 days of our stay. Only once I complained to the property manager did things change and a partial refund was negotiated; the concierge would not help at all. Make sure that construction is completed before considering this property!

Heaven.

Perfect stay at Villa Makai in this gorgeous town. We loved being at the house in the mornings, on the yoga deck, and returning to relax at the end of a beach day. Super comfortable beds, great outside shower. Can’t actually imagine anything we would change about it, apart from the road up the hill đŸ˜‚đŸ€Ł. If we have the opportunity in the future, we will be back. Thanks to sireen who was so helpful with recommendations and information and always at the end of the phone!

Secluded and Beautiful

This beautiful property is up in the hills of Santa Teresa. Highly recommend if you are down for some fun ATV rides up and down the hill! Super convenient to all of the best places to eat and surf. The property manager is also amazing and helped us with all of our logistics from the airport / ATV rentals / surf recommendations!

Beautiful home above Santa Teresa

This is a beautiful home as shown in the online photos. The lower level is enclosed by screens which can be opened to connect you to the outdoors, or closed in the evening to block out mosquitoes while still letting in the sounds of nature. Upstairs bedrooms with locking doors have a great view with nice bathrooms. The place is cleaned daily. Overall a great place for a relaxing vacation.

Beautiful Rental & Amazing Service

Great experience, Martin was very helpful before and throughout our stay. Spent the mornings watching the monkeys come for papayas and in the evenings watching the beautiful sunset. The property is beautiful very clean and well maintained. It was a great end to our vacation in Costa Rica.

Amazing villa, view, location and owner!

We stayed with my wife and two kids at Villa Makai for one week in February and we were amazed at first by the view, but also by the house itself. The house looks exactly as described/pictured. Every detail was taken into consideration at this wonderful place. Comfortable beds, very nice furnishing and a kitchen that is fully functional with everything you might need. A short jaunt down the hill takes you right into town and the beautiful beaches. Martin made us feel right at home, taking care of any and all needs to allow us to relax and enjoy this beautiful villa. House has all the amenities you need to have a relaxing and peaceful vacation. We loved the location and highly recommend this villa
