The property was absolutely perfect, private villa, amazing staff who were easy to contact with any needs. The location was great. The kitchenette was decent enough to get by however if we needed anything the staff helped promptly
Absolutely beautiful hotel. Rooms are wonderful, staff are great and the service is excellent. Would definitely stay again. You need a 4x4 car or taxi to get up the hill but I believe the hotel will send someone to collect you if you don't have a 4x4 vehicle.
Stayed in one of the larger units and it was very impressive with a private pool and amazing view. Hospitality from Mariano was top notch and he helped us booked a sunset horseback ride on the beach which was a highlight of the trip. Unique property up in the jungle of Mal Pais, so you will be best suited with 4wd car if you plan on driving. A sense of privacy and luxury while still surrounded by the outdoors.
The room was beautiful, spotless and smelled very clean. David was very attentive to anything we needed. Would highly recommend the Ocio Villas Mal Pais.
We Absolutely Loved this Hotel. It's beautifully done with breathtaking views. The staff was wonderful. Brandon went out of his way to make us a last-minute dinner reservation on the beach at Uma's when we arrived later than we had expected. We definitely recommend this hotel for couples looking for a romantic private retreat. We only wish that they offered food and had a bar so you could just enjoy the property without leaving. We will definitely stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Brandon gave us great recommendations for restaurants and exceeded our expectations for customer service. The caoba room had a spectacular view.
Absolutely incredible staff, very welcoming and attentive. The property was perfect, youâre basically in the jungle so be prepared for some ants but also incredible up close views of monkeys, iguanas and birds!
Casa Chameleon was a dream vacation for us. The staff was wonderful and we felt so at ease on this property. The rooms and the views are spectacular and it was well worth the extended trip. We're hoping to stay here again soon.
This place was breathtaking! My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were amazing and attentive even before I got there. The villa looks exactly like the pictures shown. Would come back here again if visiting.
Great hotel for spending vacation in Santa Teresa
Located uphill with great view from room and hotel and away from bustling center of town
Staff very helpful
Good restaurant if you donât want to go in town
Better to have quad or auto to get uphill
Beautifully appointed rooms with private plunge pool and view of ocean. Staff very courteous. Breakfasts included in rate were excellent. We ate dinner at the hotel most nights for convenience and because the food and service was good. The main drawback of this hotel is that it is too far away from Santa Teresa and the main beaches to walk so you need to book taxis ( $20 each way), rent an ATV or rent a car.
After reaching the property itâs up a massive in paved hill itâs incredibly pretty with amazing ocean views. Mariano and David greeted us and the service was incredible. The villa had a pool much larger than a plunge pool, it was our own small private pool. The breakfast was awesome so were all the different juices. Definitely recommend this property.
There was nothing not to like about this property!!! Well... except the steps maybe to get to our bungalo! 121 straight up the mountain! But it was so worth it!!! We were there and only saw one other couple on property the entire time! The staff was incredible! Helpful, polite, available... perfection!!!!! Cannot wait to go back!
Property is gorgeous but room is not sealed up and at dark the room became infested with flying bugs. They came under the doors, over the doors between the doors. They got in my hair and the staff offered nothing to change it. I left after one night because it was digusting
Firstly, the staff are what makes this place shine. Oscar, David and Andy made our stay very enjoyable. They demonstrated excellent service and were accommodating.
The food was excellent but the choices were limited and the menu didnât change during the 8 days we were there. I would have liked to have more options. We did have a mini bar and in-room snacks but there is no price list so be careful in what you consume or you can get hit with an extra bill. Fortunately we had a car and were able to have numerous dining options in Santa Teresa.
The grounds are lush and beautiful. We stayed in the casita called Ultra. The casita was large with an attached infinity pool. The view was spectacular. The interior was nice but areas show wear and tear. Particularly the pool where tiles are missing and the pool was not cleaned while we were there. The main pool by the restaurant seemed to be ok but we didnât use it. Overall, the room was tidy but far from pristine. There is minimal lighting in the bathroom and no natural sunlight so it was dark. Lighting in general in the casita was poor.
The biggest problem for us were the 131 stairs we had to negotiate to get to/from our room. I was not warned ahead of time and because my husband has had a stroke and doesnât walk well, it was very difficult. Additionally, there is not enough lighting along the stair path and is not safe because there are nothing to hold onto. This is not a place for anyone with orthopedic issues.
