Close to the coast, Cogolin is a picturesque Provençal village built on the slopes of the Maures massif.
With a very mild climate all year round, Cogolin is one of the few communes in the Var department that slowly stretches from the land to the shores of the Mediterranean.
Life developed around its fortified enclosure, located in the upper part where the Clock Tower still dominates. This is the vestige of one of the entrances to the surrounding wall. This defensive system encompassed the dwelling houses and the seigneurial castle. Thus Cogolin, watered by the Giscle and the Mole, flourished, enjoying the riches of its natural environment: the massif of Maures (cork, heather), the plain with fertile land (market gardening, canniers) and its hillsides whose vines produce a renowned wine.
Located in the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the city has today become a popular holiday resort, with its heritage, craftsmanship and environment. In the immediate vicinity of the beaches of Saint-Tropez and its peninsula, active and lively throughout the year, the city also offers diversity and quality of its fabric of artisans and traders.
