About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Contemporary barn in the East Devon countryside, close to the coast.

Located at the end of a quiet country lane, our contemporary barn conversion is an ideal holiday escape. Situated in the heart of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with stunning scenery and easy access to the dramatic beaches of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site.

The open plan living area on the first-floor is brightly decorated with oak-flooring; stylish furniture creates a cosy seating area around a wood-burner and the TV. Gather around the large kitchen table, seating six, which has beautiful views over our fields through full-height windows. Our modern kitchen is fully equipped with large-larder fridge, dishwasher, electric hob and oven.

On the ground floor, the three bedrooms all have views across the fields and down to the woodland. The master bedroom has a King size bed and an en-suite bathroom and the other double bedded room has access to the terrace through French doors. This and the twin-bedded room share the main bathroom. Both bathrooms are fully-tiled as ‘wet rooms’ with shower.

All bedlinen is provided, Devon Wool duvets and 100% cotton sheets and covers, kitchen linen, Ecover dishwasher tablets and liquid.
There is a bbq on the terrace, table-tennis table and a ‘tree swing’ in the home field. There are long and short walks all around the farm.
We allow visitors to swim in our pool, which is in our orchard garden, between 4 and 6pm; it is a deep pool and not suitable for non-swimmer and children must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times. We can arrange bike hire in Colyton and horse-riding nearby. Tennis courts are located in Colyton and there are excellent golf courses in the area.

We manage our farm under the Countryside Stewardship scheme, which ensures that birds and wildlife flourish and we have an abundance of native wildflowers including orchids. We keep traditional breeds of Red Ruby Devon Cattle and Black Welsh Mountain Sheep providing meat in season and our free range hens give us eggs most days!

This part of East Devon has a wonderful varied coastline stretching from Charmouth to Budleigh Salterton and day trips to North Devon for surfing the beautiful beaches of Staunton and Croyde are always worthwhile. We are a short drive from the wild spectacular Dartmoor National Park with its rugged granite tors and the historic cathedral city of Exeter is just half an hour away. There are many great National Trust Houses within easy reach and our area is famous for gardens to visit including the outstanding ‘Newt ‘at Bruton in Somerset.

We can recommend a growing number of small local restaurants and cafes and the area boasts several ‘Michelin star’ offerings - Mark Hix in Lyme Regis, Micheal Caine’s Lymptone Manor, as well as the fabulous The Pig at Combe and The River Cottage Canteen and Park Farm in Axminster, both very nearby.

Wonderful break away with family
We had a lovely stay at this property. Deborah and Anthony are great hosts and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable - from getting the fire going for us, to providing a cot and high chair for our baby. The views are incredible and there are some lovely walks around the property. It's only 15 mins from Colyton and close to lots of lovely local attractions too. Would highly recommend this place to groups wanting a peaceful getaway in a beautiful rural location.

Restorative stay.
This is a beautiful airy barn in a stunning location. Lots to do locally. Debbie and Anthony are lovely, helpful and professional. It’s really quiet, the pool is excellent. Hard to improve on what they are offering. The trouble I had with the checking in process was on the Vrbo side. I struggled 3x to get passed the verification as I didn’t receive the confirmation email I’m any inbox. This meant Debbie didn’t know when we were arriving which I was sorry about.

Beautiful property, perfectly located.
My family and I (2 adults and 2 children) had a lovely stay at Deborah and Anthony's property. The hosts were very welcoming, the property was as described, clean and very comfortable. The location was great to access beautiful coastal towns such as, Beer, Sidmouth, and Lyme Regis. Would definitely recommend, and will certainly vist again.

Lovely barn conversion in beautiful rural valley
All of the bedrooms are of generous proportions. Kitchen was well stocked with every you could possibly need for a short stay including Nespresso coffee machine and milk frothed. Both bathrooms are wet rooms and the showers are warm and powerful. Lovely open plan feel to the whole place (but that does mean noise travels when little ones are asleep) or they get up early and walk you up! Two lovely terraces to enjoy morning coffee and take in the stunning views or magnificent night sky. Deborah and Anthony lovely hosts - attentive not intrusive. Two gorgeous working farm dogs Jess and Nel will be outside your front door when you open it first thing in the morning which is quite lovely. Overall quite lovely and relaxing.

A truly get away from it all property!
Great communication upon booking. Nice spacious property. Great for kids because of the outdoor space and pool. A truly ‘get away from it all’ experience. The location of the property is beautiful, however the single track lanes getting to the property are not for the faint hearted. Helpful friendly hosts.

Amazing house and location
What a lovely holiday home this is, Deborah and Anthony where so nice and welcoming, Anthony even went out in his jeep to find our lost Asda delivery driver on our first evening there. They were always on hand should we need anything. The house had everything you could possibly need for a lovely week or 2 away. The pool was a massive hit with my 4 children and although it is deep they had the best time in there, dive bombing galore and having swim competitions. The surroundings are amazing, so much space to explore, my children loved the dogs especially and played with them several times each day. The tree swing was ace even for us adults! One evening a bat managed to fly in to the barn which excited us no end, he made it out safely don't worry! While the barn is lovely and secluded there's lots to do nearby, a few things we enjoyed were..... a day out in Exmouth and a boat ride, a day Beer, Lyme Regis Beach is lovely and sandy with a lovely little village, was very busy but the weather was good so to be expected. We had another great day at Killerton House, which is national trust and finally we went to The World of Country Life, which is a great day out for the kids. We had the best week and will be sure to recommend to our friends. Thanks for having us.

Get away from it all
This property was wonderful, as were the hosts. It is a modern barn conversion in the middle of nowhere, perfect end to the day after a busy beach day. The barn is surrounded by countryside, and that is all you can hear, apart from the occasional bleat from a sheep. Deborah met us on arrival and made sure we had what we needed for a cup of tea, and biscuits - very thoughtful. The two working dogs are incredibly well behaved and wonderful company. There is everything you need in the barn, and more. The rooms are large, the beds comfortable. The outdoor pool is a really good size, and a welcome relief from the sun in the afternoon, and the lovely pool chairs were extremely comfortable. My teenage sons loved to play with the dogs (not really allowed as they are working dogs, but my sons couldn’t wait to return to see them), play on the huge oak tree swing, and play table tennis. Robert did offer to show them around the farm, which they were looking forward to, but we just ran out of time. It is a wonderful place to stay, as long as you don’t mind very narrow country lanes, and having to wait whilst the cows moved fields. Due to the narrow roads, it’s about 25 mins to the nearest beach - but that may just be my cautious driving on the lanes! We had a wonderful holiday and send a huge thank you to our hosts.
