Has the potential to be so good. Hotel seemed pretty empty, but we were given a room at the back - we had upgraded and the room was nice, but awful view of kitchen chimneys. Breakfast was sadly awful, cold pancakes with semi warm contents. I'd love to recommend but sadly I can't.

Excellent hotel in great location

Second stay - everything as excellent as the first. Olde world charm from the outside, modern comfort inside. Great location, their own live music venue under the hotel, good choice of other local pubs and restaurants on the doorstep and the Beartown brewery was well worth a 15 minute walk

We really enjoyed our stay, lovely room, comfy bed, great shower and luxury coffee machine. The pub is very nice with fantastic breakfast. Great location. The only thing was the room was too hot, no way to turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom, to be fair we should have just asked. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Nightmare in Congleton

The staff did their best to deal with numerous problems - no hot water for showers, phone to reception didn’t work, no internet, No service at reception. Several other guests had similar experiences during our stay. We were sold the room on the basis breakfast was included but on the bill it says £30 was added for 2 breakfasts. The hotel restaurant/bar/nightclub was excessively noisy to 1am. I expect a full refund .

Stay was okay, we went down for our meal to the restaurant and had the shared starter which was good we then had the roast chicken meal, Yorkshire pudding was burnt and the chicken was not too good either, and pizza did not have any tomato base so it was like eating cardboard give the hotel their due they did not charge us for our main meal breakfast was very good and service was good

This place is really nice we had a signature room which was wonderful only small gripe was that restaurant closed very early when we stayed here and we had to go out. But Congleton has lots of good restaurants nearby we went to Orange Tree and it was great.
