Not a lot of reasonable choices in and around Cooperstown. This very basic room cost over $200. It wasnt worth more than $75. No breakfast. Crowded cluttered small room. Noisy ac right near head of bed ran constantly.

The motel had a beautiful view of the lake. Our room was up on the hill. Nice, covered porch to sit out on. The only thing we didn't like was the light on outside our room. The curtains weren't heavy enough to block the light.

Close to the lake. Far away from food.

We booked this hotel largely based on reviews from Hotels.com and because it offered close access to and views of Lake Ostego. The motel's primary asset are the friendly employees, particularly Willis and Jeremy. Also, the proximity to Lake Ostego is fantastic. Past that the motel doesn't offer very much. It is at least a ten minute drive (5 miles) from downtown Cooperstown to the motel and there are no restaurants anywhere near the location (seriously) and the furnishings, while clean, are very old and pretty antiquated. In a way this is charming but overall I would suggest that the ownership invest in some upgrades. For example, there was a touch tone desk phone and the hotel charged .50 per call. There are no cellphone charging ports in the room - USB or otherwise. (There were plenty of electrical outlets, however). The bedspread, while clean, was rather old looking as was the small couch in the room. During our one night stay, the electricity went out twice - once in the night and again around 10:00 the next morning. The young man at the desk was unsure why. Using the bathroom and taking a bath in the dark is challenging, to say the least. To be fair, the bed was comfortable and the room smelled clean and fresh. There was a coffee pot in the room though we didn't use it. Had we been closer to food, it would have been a much more pleasant stay, the loss of electricity notwithstanding. If you want to fish, it's a great location, but bring your own food.

The staff and cleanliness of this motel are great. Nice people! Unfortunately, the outdoor lighting is so bright it is like sleeping with the lights on! The sink and bathtub facets drip, drip, drip, drip. And, the highway is literally FEET away so cars speed by day and night although the speed limit is 45 mph.
