Excellent location. This hotel is centrally located with easy access to all transportation! We enjoyed being able to walk to stores, restaurants as well as the Hop On Hop Off buses. Would stay there again when we go back to Copenhagen.

Prepaid Reservation Downgraded

We booked a room that was described on Travelocity as having 3 twin beds. The room was described as being a little larger and only $10 more per night than the standard double. There were 2 of us and we wanted separate beds because of my wife's restless leg syndrome. We wanted the 3rd bed to set the suitcases on, so we could leave them there and avoid having to move them around the room to access them. When we were checking in, the clerk asked if we had a 3rd party staying with us and gave the 3rd party's surname. I told him we did not know the person and that there were only 2 of us, but we had booked a room with 3 twin beds. When we got to the room, it was a standard double with what I call a Danish King, two twin beds pushed together, when I brought this to the attention of the front desk, I was told we could move the beds apart and that I was suppose to order the 3rd twin bed before we arrived. I don't know where he thought they were going to put a 3rd twin in the room we had, because there was not enough room. Two weeks later we stayed at this hotel again, while I was waiting to talk with a clerk at the front desk, another guest was having the same experience I had 2 weeks earlier. The clerk referred it as a "family room" and gave the guest the same line about ordering the 3rd bed ahead of time. I don't understand why the room is advertised as having 3 twin beds, and I don't understand why our prepaid reservation was not honored. We will never stay here again.

Grand Hotel Copenhagen

Pros: Location and great hotel staff.
Cons: Larger rooms, possibly air conditioning - although it rarely gets hot enough to justify it. It happened to be quite warm when we were there.
Location: Near Tivoli Gardens, near the Stroget (pedistrian shopping street), near the starting point for the "on/off bus" line.
Great location in the center of downtown Copenhagen placing us near most shopping, eating activities and able to walk or take the "on off bus" to scenic areas. Located directly across from the Tivoli Gardens. The property is aged and the queen bedroom was quite small, but it was clean and the staff were so helpful, efficient and friendly.

The Grand Hotel is more than just Grand... It's Spectacular!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, close shopping, close tourist sites, close to all transportation (train & bus), excellent employee service, clean, multi lingual employees, historic, fall size bath tub
Cons: cold room in winter months
I loved this hotel! It was the first of two hotels that we stayed in during two seperate trips to Copenhagen. I wish we'd stayed at this one both times, unfortunately we'd pre-booked both hotels prior to our arrival. The Grand Hotel is in the most convenient location that I've ever experienced. Once you exit the Central Train Station, you can see the top of the building with the huge antique Grand Hotel sign. It's encouraging to know that you only have to go around a partial block to get to it, especially in the middle of a snow storm! Once you arrive at the hotel, you notice it's distinct antique beauty, complimented by modern sliding glass doors with lions etched into the glass and two lion statues graciously guarding the doors to bliss. The hotel employees were very helpful at the front desk - we speak absolutely no Danish - they assisted us in English and we saw them help other guests from other countries with ease. They ensured that we knew everything we needed to about the hotel and the immediate area and gave of us a brief overview of what would be different during the holiday period (there are lots of changes in ours/services provided in the immediate area for major holidays like Christmas and New Years). The hotel offers elevator and stair service to the rooms. We took the elevator only upon arrival and departure due to luggage. It spoke of small elegance (only 2-3 people fit with luggage). The rest of the time we took the stairs, the stairway is beautiful with lush carpet, wrought iron hand rails and varied stained glass in each window (I actually took several pictures ascending the stair case, so that I could show others what we got to see each day). Our room was nice, larger than other hotels we'd stayed in on European ventures, very "American" in size. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the street, which was wonderful for people gazing, watching the snow fall, and to peer out to see what businesses might actually be open before trekking through the cold. The downside to this balcony was that there was a slight draft in the room and the radiator didn't do the room much heating service, fortunately, the bed had very warm covers. The bathroom boasted a full sized bathtub and high quality travel size hygiene amenities (shampoo, conditioner, soap). Other room amenities included a flat screen tv with an excellent variety of channels and FREE wireless internet, the first we'd ever found in a European hotel! The decor was nice and there is plenty of space to unpack in these rooms and workspace at the desk if you're so inclined. The breakfast, which was also FREE, was excellent. There was a variety of breads, meats, cereals, fruits, juices, and other items every morning. This hotel is less than one block away from the Central Train station, two blocks away from the infamous Tivoli Gardens, the Copenhagen Hard Rock Cafe, and a variety of bus tours. There are several other sites to include the Rosenborg Castle, local churches, a major pedestrian style shopping area (supposedly the largest in Europe) and the famous NyHavn area, which is a long strip of bars and restaurants on each side of a canal, within reasonable walking distance, think mile to two miles (max), you can do it! While there is a restaurant in the hotel, it is fairly expensive, there are several alternative options to include Chinese, Turkish, pizza and burger joints, and many others very close to the hotel. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, I don't think I could even consider another hotel. The hotel exceeded our expectations, it's convenience and the experience made it woth every bit of it's price. Enjoy this home away from home!

Good value/location

This hotel is in the most perfect location a block from the Central train station which is accessible from the airport in 10 to 15 minutes. The breakfast buffet is excellent and well worth the small extra fee. The only negative comment is that the street noise can be annoying if you arent used to big city living. Tivoli Gardens is a two minute walk from the Hotels front door. I highly recommend the Grand Hotel.
