SURROUNDING AREA



Majordoms Vila sits on a small hilltop settlement called Sords, in the municipality of Cornellà del Terri, in the Pla de l'Estany comarca of Girona. The surrounding landscape is rolling farmland, wooded hillsides, and scattered hamlets — quiet, unhurried, and typical of inland Catalonia.



The local area



The house is on a quiet lane surrounded by fields and low hills. The village of Cornellà del Terri is a few minutes' drive and has basic amenities. Majordoms Vila sits directly on the Via Verda — the greenway cycling route that runs between Olot and Girona — making it an ideal base for cyclists who want to ride from the door. The route passes through varied countryside with easy gradients, and connects to both the Banyoles lake circuit and the volcanic landscape of La Garrotxa.



Banyoles



The nearest town of any size is Banyoles, roughly 10 km away. It is best known for its natural lake, one of the largest in Catalonia, which hosted the 1992 Olympic rowing events and is now a year-round centre for water sports, open-water swimming, and lakeside cycling. The old town has a weekly market, several good restaurants, and a relaxed local feel.



Girona



Girona is around 25 km to the east. Its medieval quarter — with cathedral, Jewish quarter, and intact city walls — can comfortably be explored in a morning. The city also has a strong food scene and direct high-speed rail connections to Barcelona (roughly 30 minutes).



Day trips



The area works well as a base for Girona city (25 minutes), La Garrotxa volcanic natural park (30 minutes), the medieval village of BesalĂș (20 minutes), the Costa Brava coast (40 minutes), and Barcelona (around 90 minutes by car).



CLIMATE



The Pla de l'Estany has a Mediterranean-continental climate: warm and dry summers, mild springs and autumns, and cool winters. July and August temperatures regularly reach 30°C. Spring and autumn bring more temperate conditions that suit cycling and outdoor activity well.

ACCESS & PRIVACY



Majordoms Vila is a fully standalone casa rural set back from the road on a private lane. The garden is entirely enclosed by a fence, with no shared spaces and no neighbouring properties within sight. Guests check in independently using a key box at the entrance — no need to wait for anyone. Full instructions, door codes, and arrival details are sent before your stay.



GETTING THERE



Address: Disseminat Sords, 7, 17844 CornellĂ  del Terri, Girona



The house is best reached by car. From Banyoles, take the GI-524 towards Cornellà del Terri and follow directions to the Sords hamlet — approximately 10 minutes. From Girona, allow around 25 minutes. From Barcelona, approximately 90 minutes.



There is no reliable public transport to the house. Guests are advised to hire a car or arrange a transfer in advance.

- Dogs are welcome.

- The holiday rental is not suitable for groups under 18 travelling without an adult supervisor.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

All bookings are subject to the Els Majordoms rental agreement, which is sent to you at the time of booking. A refundable security deposit is required to confirm your reservation and is returned after departure, provided the holiday rental is left in good order.



A Catalan tourist tax applies to all guests aged 17 and over and is charged per person per night. This is a regional government levy and is added to the booking total.



As required by Spanish law, all guests must provide valid ID or passport details before or at check-in. We will ask for this information when confirming your stay.
