Coromandel Orchard Cottage

One bedroom cedar cottage, nestled into private, tranquil cottage gardens with a veranda, separate patio, and paths leading to the orchards. The property is on 1.5 acres, fully self-contained with one new QUEEN bed Feb 2024 / bedroom, en suite, a double sofa bed in the open plan living area, and a portable crib with bedding provided. It can accommodate 4 people. It is a lovely warm place to stay in either summer or winter as it is north-facing and has a log fire for the winter, with air conditioning and heaters as required.
The property is an oasis of a variety of fruits in the orchards which covers the property. Most times of the year there is fruit. At the rear of the property is Driving Creek stream where the first gold was discovered in New Zealand and today you will find crystals there for a souvenir.

Within walking distance (5min) is the famous Driving Creek Railway, where Barry Brickell, a world-famous potter has established a truly fascinating environment, with potters and his world-famous railway PLUS there is now the Driving Creek Wildlife Sanctuary and a new Art Gallery which will exhibit Barry's private collection of very famous artists not to forget the fabulous views of the harbor and islands. Also, see the re-establishment of native trees and wildlife. On the way stop off at the funky Driving Creek Cafe.

The historic village of Coromandel is under 3km away, with fabulous restaurants and craft shops. The 3 local pubs all provide courtesy vans door-to-door. The cottage is 5-8 minutes to the closest safe beach or under 30 mins to the beautiful Whangapoua, NEW CHUMS and Matarangi Beaches on the East Coast, suitable for surfing, sailing, and boogie boarding
Also, there are bush walks to native Giant Kauri Trees, artist studios to visit, and a great fishing region - if you do not have a boat we would be happy to organize a trip for you or a trip to the Cape perhaps.

The best of the best!

The property was spotless, filled with every type of amenity you could wish for. Furthermore, there were board games and movies to watch if you managed to get bored. The gardens are lovely and the plethora of fruit trees are a wonderful sight. Shirley was a fantastic host, and we could tell that she truly cared about our wellbeing.11/10, would give this stay 6 stars if I could.

Home away from home

Had everything we required to stay for day to day living.The beautiful fresh flower arrangement was a lovely touch.Unfortunately the fireplace was not working, which was the reason we booked, but happy there was a heat pump available.The outdoor deck area and steps was very dangerous and slippery (needs waterblasting).Owner was very communicating and apologized for the inconvenience due to not being able to maintain certain things around the property.

Relaxing and peaceful stay

Well presented and comfortable stay in a peaceful environment a short drive from Coromandel township. I would highly recommend for singles or couples looking to explore the area or for a quiet break. Beautiful garden setting, lovely welcoming hosts and vibe. I would definitely stay here again.

A week in the Coromandel with our border collie.

We had a wonderful time at Orchard Cottage. The place was perfect and the hosts were lovely. We were able to take our dog to lots of beaches and walking tracks close by. The cottage was ideal for us and we were made to feel very welcome. We would definately recommend.

A Hidden Gem

The entire property is immaculately kept, incredibly clean and well stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies. Shirley was so lovely and really hospitable to all of us. If you’re introverts (like us) don’t be put off by the hosts sharing the property. They were hugely respectful of our privacy and let us roam around their gardens like they were our own. Shirley genuinely cared about us getting a break from our usual lives and it really showed in her attention to detail throughout the cottage (there were fresh bouquets from the garden waiting for us upon arrival!). There is so much to do in the Coromandel but we found ourselves not wanting to leave the cottage because it was such a natural sanctuary. We will definitely be back!

An oasis

We couldn't have had a more lovely place to stay with the well equipped cottage and the wonderful garden giving such privacy. Shirley and Tim the best hosts we could wish for. Hope your broken leg heals well very soon, Tim. We were pleased that Coromandel town wasn't too far from Whitianga which had more things to see and do than Coromandel town and also had the supermarkets where the groceries were cheaper for self catering purposes and better stocked for Coeliacs.

Very quiet and peaceful!

We loved the cottage. Very quiet and peaceful, we'd been gone from home for 5 weeks, and we spent our last 5 days here relaxing before heading back to the United States..We eat at different restaurants in town, delightful! We drove on 309, and went on the Drying Creek Railroad train ride, very close to the cottage..

Sweet, peaceful, Garden Cottage. Beautiful setting, expansive garden property. Such a lovely place to stay.Immaculately presented, spotlessly clean cottage, tastefully decorated. Quality linen and bedding.provided for my use. Shirley left a beautiful floral display of garden flowers by my bed and on the dining table. Such a thoughtful gesture. Added a lovely ambience to the rooms and brightened my days. Extra touches were made available to me by way of quality sauces & spices, teas & coffee, butter, milk. Bathroom products were provided for my use, so thoughtful. And the bed had the most comfortable mattress & my friend had a comfortable, restful sleep on the pull out sofa bed. It had a thick, topper pad to use on top of the sofa mattress. I enjoyed a 5 night stay at the gorgeous Orchard Garden Cottage. I highly recommend booking a stay here. I will definitely return here for another holiday. Shirley is the Hostess with the mostest.

Beautifully situated bush and beach cottage

Gorgeous cottage situated amongst meticulously cared for private gardens and fruit trees. The cottage had everything we needed and more for our 4 night stay. The freshly picked flowers Shirley arranged in the cottage were a lovely touch. The cottage is 5 minute from a fabulous swimming bay one way and Coromandel township the other. Shirley was a fantastic host and made sure we were well looked after and had the most enjoyable and peaceful time possible. We highly recommend the comfort and serenity of Orchard Cottage for your next getaway! Thank you Shirley and Tim for a fantastic stay.we hope to be back again!

Absolutely perfect in every way! (Mary Poppins)

Quaint. Everything that you needed and more. Tangelo orchard raided, but have left some for the next guest. Passion fruit (some) have been marked with a B. Will come down in passion fruit season, hope they will still be there. Lovely flower arrangement in bed room. Very peaceful and romantic setting. Close to Driving Creek, just a walk away.
