This home, on what is affectionately called California's Riviera, in the exclusive gated community of Beach Road, provides privacy and seclusion not commonly associated with beachfront property. It is just a short ride to great restaurants in Dana Point and San Clemente, as it is between these two seaside communities. It is less than 45 miles from the airport and minutes from the train station. Learning experiences abound at nearby San Juan Capistrano Mission or Dana Point Harbor Ocean Institute. Proximity to famous theme parks such as Disneyland, Knottsberry Farm, SeaWorld, and the San Diego Zoo makes it easy to create a memorable day's adventure.
This lower-level property features a deck with a sweeping ocean view. High-top stools at the kitchen bar make eating together easy, especially with additional seating on the deck. Here, you can come to relax and ride bicycles along the coast path to Dana Point Harbor. Have a barbecue family dinner on the deck and watch the sunset, then enjoy the emerging starlit skies. Relax and reconnect as you bask in the magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and enjoy the refreshing breezes.

The view and proximity to the beach is incredible. We loved the private beach. The place is large with lots of windows to enjoy the beach through and the backyard area is lovely. We canât wait to come back!
The stairs to access the beach were broken and because people were staying in houses next to us very difficult to get to beach. We had small children and the board blocking the stairs was not strong and safe. The maintenance man said it had been over a month they had been down and this should have been communicated. Half of the outlets did not work. Again, this was looked at by maintenance man but not able to be fixed. House was dated and stains on furniture. Very loud when upper unit was occupied and shared the same small back deck. We did like the number of bedrooms/baths and view. Reviews about lack of communication were validated when we texted and called with door access issues and no one replied.
The house is a little tired and needs updating. There are very little luxuries especially in the kitchen with only one wine glass in the house. The wide lens pictures make the place look a lot bigger and lighter than it is in reality. The back garden is a bit of a mess.
This stay started out bad from the very start. The listing idicates 2 parking spaces, however the security gate would not let our second car in. Our kids drover over 14 hours to get here for a wedding. We spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with customer service multiple times to get this resolved only to be told on each call that we would eventually get a call back. This was 2 1/2 hours of dealing with this. The back patio pictures on the listing are very outdated. There is now a wooden fence obstructing the view, but most importantly, there is caution tape all over the fence. The stairs down to the beach have erroded and are hanging on the wooden fence. This is most certainly a safety hazard. We were never told of this issue prior to our arrival. The kitchen and patio lights do not work. Once the owner was told of this issue, he then took it upon himself to enter the house when we were away and said he replaced the bulbs in the back bedroom. I never made any mention for him to come over, nor did I mention an issue with bulbs in a back bedroom. Sitting in the dark in the main part of the house was frustrating to say the least. The last night of our stay, I then get a text from the owner asking me for all of my family members names that entered the property. All of this made for a very uneasy stay to say the least. I am only writing this out of pure frustration. All of this has been shared with Vacasa as well as the owner 2 weeks ago with NO response.
Pros: Location, views, access to beach, outdoor furniture, beds very comfortable, lots of bedrooms, overall clean, new bbq grillCons: Total mis-management from property mgr. Vacasa to get individuals and their cars on list to enter through guard gates. Spent 2hours trying to resolve. Major pain. Lots of deferred maintenance and things didn't work (fire-pit, electrical plugs all over house, lights outside patio. Couch was extremely stained-gross. No grill brush cleaner. Wifi box not located in best area, had to be moved with 50ft cord to living room just to watch TV and connect devices.
View was perfect, outside BBQ area great for gathering and lounging. Rooms are good, Laundry room helpful.Takeaway is WiFi and internet. Not a good place for working remote.
Location was excellent and very roomy. It isn't as nice as the pictures, could use some TLC. We didn't realize the upstairs is rented out separately and the back yard is shared. Nice having ocean so close and had a seal playing in the water out front.
We had so much fun. I wish the dishwasher was working and I did not realize this was a shared unit. Also the freezer barely opened and was very loud. Other than that though, we would stay here again and hope to soon!
We stayed Nov 9-12 to play golf at a couple local courses & celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday. The check-in process was smooth, place was clean, view was tremendous, and location is perfect. Waves crashing against the sea wall 15' beneath your feet with an ocean view is the perfect setting. Only complaint is, we tried to get a guest in by leaving his name at the front gate. Security wouldn't take it and told us to call the property manager we dealt with. I called the only number I had in connection with this reservation, and she seemed confused but took the name and told me she added it to the list. The gate security said they still showed nothing about it. There is an obvious communication gap there, so we were forced to drive up to the gate, out of the property to pick up our guest, and again to return him to his vehicle parked off property later that evening when he left. The Gate Security was rude and uncooperative, which apparently they're known for. Other than that, great place to stay!
