Summary: History meets modern convenience at First Officer's Quarters, Dartmouth. Located in a Grade II listed building from the 1800s, the apartment sleeps 2 guests in a comfortable double room with a smart TV. Enjoy the modern shower room & separate toilet. The well-equipped kitchen features all the mod cons, including a coffee machine. Relax in the cosy living room with smart TV & electric fireplace. Step out to a secluded patio with seating, perfect for unwinding after long days exploring the coast!
The Space: First Officer's Quarters is located on the ground floor of the building and is all on one level. There is 1 step into the building door but from there it is step free.
Guest Access: Guests have access to the whole apartment.
The Neighborhood: Dartmouth is a picturesque town on the River Dart in Devon. Explore Dartmouth Castle, a historic fortress offering stunning views of the estuary. Stroll along the scenic Embankment and enjoy the bustling harbour with its charming shops and cafes. Visit the Britannia Royal Naval College, a striking landmark. Take a boat trip along the river or venture to nearby beaches like Blackpool Sands. Wander through the historic streets to find art galleries and unique boutiques. Savour fresh seafood at local restaurants and experience the townâs vibrant festivals and regattas. Dartmouth promises a delightful mix of history, culture, and natural beauty.
Getting Around: Due to the remote nature of Devon, a car is recommended for getting the most out of your stay here. Free parking can be found in the surrounding streets, and there is also a paid car park 2-3 minutes walk away.
If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is in Totnes. It's about a half an hour drive from the property and taxis are available in the town.
Other Things to Note: Whilst the patio is for our guests use only it can be accessed freely from the communal entryway as it is an alternative fire escape route.
We welcome a maximum of 2 dogs. It is on the condition they are not left in the apartment alone, kept off the sofa and bed and any mess on the terrace cleared up after.
I wish I had never booked this place! Not enough room to say enough about the awful place!
It was misrepresented in its description and its facilities and the owner eventually just ignored or disregarded my complaints. It was covered front & back with scaffolding due down the next day, it stayed all week along with the noise from 7.30am. There was not as listed a dishwasher, an office, a balcony and a âgardenâ. It had a dirty patio covered in moss. It was overlooked and food and stones were thrown over.
The apartment is poorly converted and has a flat roofed extension. It has no historic charm. It smells of damp. The advice we were given about car parking was wrong for long term parking you have to dive to the outskirts of town. There is a severe noise problem every night. There is no dining area and no fireplace. Finding the house and gaining entry was not easy because of a lack of signage. It was dirty and rubbish was left. Cleaning was poor; Basic items lacking; a micro fridge freezer; broken tap; radiator; lampshade. Promised action and cleaning never happened. The bathroom is cramped and barely useable. Noise from the upstairs apartment daily.
The host imposed a derisory compensation upon us and after a lengthy exchange of emails which only added insult to injury. We did not agree the compensation and he failed to answer my further communications.
